We are looking for a Finance Manager who will be responsible for overseeing the operations of Canva's local finance team. This role plays an integral part of the organisation wherein strong legal and compliance background is highly needed, and ensuring timely and accurate financial reports are provided to senior management. Reporting to the Philippines Head of Finance, you will work together in support to the Country Manager to drive strategic group initiatives as Canva continues on its exciting journey.

Your Role:

  • Leads the team
Help guide the Finance Function and its progression during Canva’s continued growth
Help redefine the service scope and levels for the manila specific team and proactively ensure appropriate resourcing levels to achieve goals.
Reassess and mutually set goals and objectives for the team and individual team members aligned with the group and Company objectives.
Ensure that each team member has the appropriate guidance and feedback to develop their skills
Monitor the workload of each team member and assist them with capacity planning
Assess requests for information of stakeholders (internal & external) and prioritise having regard to operational considerations and business needs
  • Maintains high standards
Ensure that the accounting records of the Company are prepared in a timely manner
Review of employee and vendor payouts, computations for payroll related taxes & entitlements and monthly reports/remittances of Philhealth, Pag-Ibig & SSS
Review of all compliance filings and preparation of yearly reconciliations – income tax, VAT, employee/supplier withholding tax and employee entitlements
Supporting cash management and handling
  • Consistently meets deadlines
Drive the timely and accurate completion of month end processes/reconciliations
Lead and review monthly management variance reports
Assist in intercompany transactions and invoicing
Liaise with auditors in relation to annual company and group audits
  • Drives change and improvement
Lead the evolution of internal controls appropriate to Canva’s size and nature during the continued growth of the business
Apply your prior knowledge and experience in utilising technology solutions and outsourcing low risk/high effort tasks for achieving efficiencies  and process scaling
Continuously evaluate responsibilities, risk areas and knowledge gaps of the team as transaction volumes and complexities of the business increase
Assist team members in optimising their roles and time allocation through an increased reliance on technology

Your skills and qualifications:

  • The successful candidate should have:
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
At least 5+ years relevant work experience
Experience supervising at least a small accounting team
Experience working in a private company environment
Big 4 training and career progression
Experience in using a cloud accounting software (or can demonstrate extensive knowledge of how technology is used in a Finance Function)
At ease with ambiguity with the ability to quickly analyse and simplify complex issues and seek out simple but effective ways of getting things done
  • It would also be advantageous if you can demonstrate:
Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards
Knowledge of Philippines Financial Reporting Standards
Experience in a fast paced, dynamic startup environment
Organisationally savvy, with the high levels of perception, self-awareness and emotional intelligence required to drive and influence change.
Experience working within an MNC
Experience in using Netsuite OneWorld
