Job Description / Capsule

Supporting OneProcurement function in creation of Contracting Excellence in the processes of contracting through initiating, managing and delivering improvements within the contracting area.  Will ensure that contract authoring and negotiations standards are relevant for the needs of S2C with improvements opportunities identified. Will work on improvements solutions to be implemented appropriately and establishment of effective risk management related to contracting process. Will provide general legal advice to OneProcurement function via organized structure. Will contribute to strategy and policy decisions.

Typical Accountabilities

  • Implements and maintains an effective contract improvement program or projects
  • Set objectives (aligned with Global Compliance strategy and objectives) to ensure embedded and streamlined approach to contracting improvements (authoring & negotiation)
  • Provides legal support via daily clinics, legal coffees or trainings owned by Legal GPS.
  • Leads, co-leads or supports provision of legal trainings to OneProcurement
  • Actively identifies gaps and opportunities for improvements in contractual standards and materials, searches for improvements and suggests solution
  • Actively executes agreed strategy to achieve personal and work unit goals
  • Support maintenance of AZ risk register, suggests mitigation of legal risks (e.g. data privacy, contracting standards, competition law, etc.)
  • Observes outcomes of audit and suggests or assist in setting up strategy and execution of mitigation plans
  • Follow up on any inconsistencies in contracting standards
  • Observes functional readiness to audits

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • Law degree education
  • Good knowledge and/or experience in procurement/contracting processes
  • Good knowledge of contract & civil law (1-2 years of work in procurement or in contractual law)
  • Excellent analytical, written and oral communications skills in English
  • Strong collaborative, partnering, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to work independently
  • High ethical standards, trustworthy
  • Time management and organisation skills

Desirable

  • Qualified legal professional (attorney-at-law)
  • Proven expertise in provision of legal advice related to health care regulations, laws and standards
  • Experience working in the Pharmaceutical industry
  • Good understanding of AZ and how legal function supports AZ
