Job Description

General Manager

BCGDV is working on a new digital innovation business unit of a medtech healthcare company. The business unit will focus on creating new digital products and platforms that transform the lives of patients. The first product will be a next generation digital platform aimed at a neurological disorder to empower patients to better understand their condition, have better conversations with their doctor and ultimately achieve better health outcomes. The business has plans to grow aggressively to engage patient populations, with an initial focus in the US market. The business will scale aggressively in the next few years, and will be based in London, England, with international travel, up to a third travel to the US.

Due to the planned growth of our venture, we are seeking a world class General Manager (GM) to set the vision and overall expansion strategy, recruit and lead the leadership team and oversee all business activities. This is a board sponsored multi-year investment.

This is a unique opportunity for an exceptional GM with a background in both successfully scaling consumer and tech start-ups and corporate leadership, to provide leadership to our Venture team.

Leadership

  • Lead with a strategic mindset while dealing with ambiguity and develop, nurture and realize business opportunities
  • Deliver strategic leadership for defining the commercial path to growth and profitability of the business and the establishment of an effective growth process and infrastructure
  • Work closely with your VP of Engineering, VP Sales & Marketing and VP of Product, set the vision of the overall strategy; including defining long-term goals and approaches
  • Drive growth, profitability, and company-wide value.
  • Drive continuous improvement.
  • Manage competition and threats in the marketplace, with constant evaluation of product market fit, financial viability, & strategic priorities.

Execute with excellence

  • Align resources to achieve key business priorities, including working with corporate partner to manage resource
  • Drive day to day operations.
  • Manage regulatory complexity in the healthcare space
  • Proactively mitigate business, operational & governance risks.
  • Continue to develop and test the business model
  • Provide expert guidance to all functional areas, including engineering, product sales & marketing.
  • Be a sophisticated relationship manager, with the ability to manage multiple internal and external stakeholders

  • Proven track record of scaling hypergrowth teams of up to 50-100 people

Background

  • MBA strongly preferred
  • Experience leading and scaling at least one high growth start-up in the role of CEO or General Manager and within business unit of a large corporate, at Director level or higher
  • Tech/Digital/Start Up and Agile background preferred
  • Experience working closely with C-Suite of large corporate
  • Proven commercial acumen and P&L responsibility
  • Experience working in MedTech / medical devices / software-as-a-medical-device (SaMD) / health services tech, particularly in regulated medical environment
  • Proven track record of building successful digital products and high calibre, multi-disciplinary teams from the ground up
  • Experience with sales and/or marketing in US or European healthcare (working with payer, provider, patients and/or patient groups) or a background more heavily involved in product
  • Digital health experience highly desirable e.g. digital therapeutics, electronic health record integration, telehealth
  • US healthcare experience is highly desirable
