Senior Hardware Validation Engineer - Santa Clara, CA

 

The Oracle Hardware Development team is hiring a Senior Hardware Validation Engineer to support the architecture, design, validation and release of industry leading cloud server products and engineered systems.


As a member of the hardware validation team you will be responsible for developing board and system level electrical validation plans.  Perform electrical measurements of the board level signaling environment.  Analyze and document results and, where appropriate, provide signal/ circuit enhancement recommendations to the responsible hardware design engineer. 

Participate in troubleshooting and remediation of complex board and system level problems.  Perform signal integrity simulations on high speed interfaces including DDR, PCIe, SAS/ SATA and NVMe using applicable analysis tools.  Participate in board level schematic and layout design reviews.  Investigate new/ evolving interface technologies and develop comprehensive validation testing strategies and procedures. 

Having experience validating a recent generation of Intel server grade motherboards
is a significant advantage for rapid success in the role.

Preferred Qualifications

Skilled in electrical signal quality measurement, including jitter, noise, timing and voltage margins
Highly proficient in the use of test equipment including high-speed oscilloscopes, differential probes, logic and network analyzers
Knowledge of Intel CPU/chipset architectures
Understanding of frequency domain analysis
Experience with PCIe compliance standards and testing
Demonstrated ability to debug complex board level signaling problems
Strong analytical, diagnostic and problem solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with Linux and Windows OS’s

 

BSEE/ CS required, MS preferred

Responsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic, electro-mechanical or mechanical components, assemblies or integrated circuitry for hardware systems for the external market. Includes new design, as well as modification activities that results in significant product enhancement. Activities encompass design, analysis, testing and process development using engineering principles and methods. Technical disciplines may include electrical and logical design of printed circuit boards or integrated circuits; mechanical design of electronics enclosures or integrated circuit packaging; and embedded software/firmware design.

Duties and tasks are varied and complex needing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of engineering or related experience.
