Job Description

To provide leadership and vision in the direction, development, ongoing planning, implementation, review and evaluation of the bilingual curriculum. To ensure the high standards of student achievement and instructional excellence through securing and monitoring the bilingual curriculum implementation, and internal quality assurance and external accreditation and authorization.


BUSINESS GROWTH AND REPUTATION

  • To support the curriculum development across all bilingual schools in China region as well as the high-quality teaching and learning.
  • To ensure the bilingual curriculum implementation and the best practice of education which lead to the strong academic outcomes.
  • To ensure the bilingual education meets the high standards of the NAE QA and the benchmark of the relevant authorization and accreditation.


STRATEGIC & ORGANISATIONAL LEADERSHIP

  • To be responsible for development and implementation of a stimulating, innovative and responsive curriculum which develops creativity, analytical thinking and academic achievement of students
  • To lead thinking and developing within the region in respect of the bilingual curriculum development, implementation, evaluation and review aligning with the NAE philosophy in the China context;
  • To develop the overarching curriculum framework and student assessment system for all bilingual schools in China region;
  • To monitor the effectiveness of curriculum implementation, and analyse and report on the progress of this in relation to the organisation as a whole and in individual schools;
  • To lead the regional-wide bilingual curriculum review and evaluation in a cyclical way;
  • To collaborate with the relevant partners for integrating the international elements with the Chinese National Curriculum at multiple levels;
  • To lead the NAE QA review and visit and work with the schools to ensure the schools’ continuous improvement through the self- improving mechanism.
  • To support the IBDP authorization and the five – year review.
  • To introduce the suitable external accreditations and support the schools to be accredited in a strategic way.
  • To assist the line manager in developing and implementing the regional education strategic development plan;
  • To collaborate with the Group Education Team and contribute to success against the goals of bilingual education;
  • To support and contribute to the China Bilingual Academy where needed;
  • To provide in-school support for the development and implementation of the school-based curriculum where appropriate;
  • To offer advice and support to schools on curriculum issues, and to keep fully abreast of developments in Chinese, international and bilingual curriculum;
  • To support the bilingual curriculum promotion at all levels as needed.


OPERATIONAL EXPERTISE & RESOURCE MANAGEMENT

  • To keep abreast of both National and International trends and dialogues relating to curriculum, accreditation and authorization;
  • To support line manager in planning and managing effective staffing and resources in the area of curriculum development and QA;
  • To contribute to the regional education strategic development plan;
  • To participate in the development and evaluation of bilingual education;
  • To support the review and implementation of teaching & learning policies including but not limited to marking policies; assessment policies; teaching & learning policy, homework policies and examination policy.


DEVELOPING TALENT

  • To advise schools in the appointment of teacher trainers and the promotion of curriculum/subject leaders as appropriate

Qualifications/Training

  • Bachelor’s Degree or above
  • Higher Degree in a relevant area
  • Teaching qualification
  • Quality Assurance or Inspection qualification

Experience / Knowledge

  • Significant experience of educational leadership at a senior level and across schools
  • Management of Quality Assurance or inspection teams
  • Understanding of school improvement in a self-improving system
  • Experience of presenting and defending findings
  • Knowledge of working with high performing schools
  • Experience of International schools
  • International outlook
