About the Role:

To drive the development, manageability, and maintainability of the Microsoft 365  and Azure platform, that RWS utilises.
Responsible for the effective delivery, deployment of Microsoft 365 Enterprises Services
To drive the development and implementation of cloud-based initiatives and align business requirements with best of breed cloud solutions.
The key themes of this role are to organise and innovate. Cloud and Microsoft Services must be standardised using best practice techniques to ensure high availability, repeatability and consistency. The ability to streamline provisioning and delivery processes are also key aspects to the success of this role.

Responsibilities:

Innovation and delivery

  • Develop, maintain and improve upon standard processes for deploying cloud services with a focus on the Microsoft platforms. Working towards developing a standard library of service designs to meet typical service requirements
  • Align service automation with high availability and demonstrate creativity in supplying HA options for legacy services.
  • Work with the Infrastructure services team to reduce legacy and shadow IT services.
  • Maintain a focus on the business direction when reviewing solutions and working on new service or requests; understand the need and question the benefit.
  • Maintain an awareness of operations across the business to avoid the duplication of systems and processes

Management and Consistency

  • Demonstrate leadership in building and configuration of cloud solution specifically involving the Microsoft 365 and Azure platforms.
  • Centrally manage all cloud-based resource for Internal IT services. Maintain visibility of resource usage and costs. Maintain a facility for providing accurate cost and resource reports and alerts to IT Teams and management.
  • Maintain and control security into cloud-based services, manage access for third parties, Internal IT services and service owners as required.
  • Be accountable for any service failings brought about by past initiatives, ensure to complete post-incident reviews and adopt any necessary improvements or remediation into your ongoing processes. 
  • Ensure solutions are delivered within the committed timeframe as defined by project management teams
  • Follow Internal Change management processes as required
  • Contribute to cloud architecture vision from a strategic perspective as required, including internal and external platforms, tools, and systems
  • Develop and maintain cloud services as a business function, seeking to always improve and utilise management channels to escalate any global strategic requirements

Knowledge and Consultancy

  • Act as a subject matter expert across RWS on Microsoft Cloud Services.
  • Ensure all cloud services in production, in dev and in test are documented to a standard that adheres to any documentation templates.
  • Work with the Service Delivery Manager and associated support teams to provide training, ongoing coaching and support for any new cloud-based service that is introduced into the business
  • Work with the project management team to consult and advise on technical issues.
  • As a subject matter expert, you will be required to review current issues and recommend new solutions. It is therefore essential to demonstrate a leadership ability to back decisions with research, highlighting any pros and cons and confidently reaching a final recommendation.
  • Maintain overall industry knowledge on the latest trends in technology.
  • Upon delivery, ensure solutions meet and perform to the agreed technical and functional requirements
  • Provide technical expertise and ownership in the diagnosis and resolution of an issue relating to any new service implementations undertaken by the cloud team.
  • Share knowledge and expertise with your peers, maintain an open knowledge sharing approach to reduce information\knowledge dependencies.
  • Provide support, technical governance and expertise related to cloud architectures, deployment and operations
  • Take a customer-focused approach in working with project teams when solving business problems and implementing new solutions. 
  • Hold or working towards Microsoft 365 Certified Enterprise Administrator Expert

Requirements:

Technology and Principles

  • Strong Microsoft 365 enterprise management experience include Azure AD and Hybrid AD implementations.
  • Strong Microsoft product knowledge, including but not limited to  Office365, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, Teams, Yammer.
  • Strong scripting knowledge with an aptitude for basic programming logic (PowerShell, Python)
  • Strong Windows server background with solid experience in building typical business services (i.e. directory, email, web, application and database services)
  • Highly skilled in designing and building solutions via typical cloud vendor services (server delivery, multi-tenancy, storage, orchestration, elastic scalability etc.)
  • Focused on minimising admin and repeat processes through automation
  • Exposure to configuration management, app virtualisation and containerisation (Puppet, Chef, App-V, Docker etc.)
  • Can adhere to development and release principles, setting standards around build quality, versioning, documentation etc.
