The AstraZeneca IT function is undergoing significant transformation which will address performance, perception and profile.  The IT Transformation Programme will break the default outsourcing mentality, drive greater cohesion amongst senior IT leadership, begin the simplification of what has become an overly complex function and build a world class IT organization.

High Level Function and Role Overview

The Campus IT Infrastructure China team is responsible for managing and driving improvements in IT services that directly support our workforce in China. Ensures current and future IT services are delivered effectively through proactive customer engagement and effective communication. Delivers a rapid response to critical issues, and proactively drives initiatives to ensure a robust overall IT service.

The IT Infrastructure Engineer role is responsible to provide IT infrastructure service and participate in developing technology solutions. The role has in-depth knowledge in IT infrastructure solution area and must have a high-level understanding of how the IT infrastructure they are responsible for impacts business process. This role will also contribute to delivery in projects which require deep technical knowledge and skills in their areas of responsibility.

This role will work closely with the IT internal teams and business units to ensure alignment with business objectives. The candidate must have both leadership and technical skills to effectively and efficiently to supply IT infrastructure services.

The successful candidate will be able to operate independently and build strong relationships with key stakeholders, managing through competing requirements in a complex matrix environment. They will be a strong organizer with a collaborative mindset and enjoy working in a small team driving excellence across different local and global teams.

Key Accountabilities

  • Contribute to the end-to-end design of infrastructure solutions and the creation and maintenance of related component standards
  • Interact with senior internal and external stakeholders on significant technical matters as it relates to organizational objectives
  • Evaluate promising solutions/technologies within their infrastructure solution area and their feasibility in meeting business needs providing technical recommendations and contributing to best practices for infrastructure solutions and the use cases for their respective solution areas
  • Architect, design, build, test and implement integrated, resilient and reliable solutions within standards and directions
  • Lead technically small project and provide guidance to less experienced personnel
  • Stay aware of operational challenges and opportunities and work with onsite support team staff to provide internal escalation support as needed
  • Facilitate accurate record keeping by documenting support issues and/or resolutions and communicating customer feedback to managers and IT team members
  • Be flexible for emergency call or onsite support for critical system issue during non-work hours.

Candidate Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Successful candidates will be required to demonstrate the following capabilities & skills:

Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of IT infrastructure service experience
  • ITIL, MSCE, CCNP, CCNA Certification is preferred
  • Be proficient in server-side computer software and hardware expertise, Microsoft operating systems and architecture. Understand database basics
  • Be proficient in VMware virtualization server platform, storage equipment, network and wireless equipment
  • Be familiar with computer room management, understand related equipment room equipment management standards and requirements, and have actual data centre shutdown maintenance operation experience
  • Be proficient in various configurations in the LAN, and can configure switch routers according to requirements
  • Be familiar with network VRRP / HSRP, trunk, LACP, ACL, NAT, policy routing, OSPF, commonly used VPN and other related knowledge and can apply it correctly
  • Be familiar with laser printer, label printer, thermal printer settings, and background software and hardware maintenance related experience
  • Be familiar with Skype or VOIP phone system, and have related background software and hardware maintenance experience
  • Have experience in maintaining automation networks (production equipment networks such as Siemens Bosch) – Ops requirements
  • Be familiar with network and system security common sense, mainstream antivirus software, firewall, VPN and other applications.
  • Must be familiar with onsite support process and service now or other incident management tools
  • Must have the quick learn capabilities
  • Good people skills in team work and the ability to interact and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Good written and verbal skills, fluent English

Desired:

  • Experience with pharmaceutical industry and especially in manufacture site is preferred
  • Ability to work well in diverse, multinational teams
  • Experience of managing change and methodologies

Relevant expertise and experience in the following areas would be an advantage

  • Project management
  • Service management
