Job Description

The IT Peg Systems Specialist:

  • Manages and executes the planning, testing, setup, and maintenance for new and existing production systems while ensuring no negative impacts to running production.
  • Installs, maintains software and implements measures to protect against malicious threats for network connected production devices/systems.
  • Works closely with Planning and IT departments to ensure adherence to established standards and norms.
  • Adheres to BMW Groups IT Process Quality Management (ITPM) methodology in performing all tasks.
  • Ensures that all production devices are protected by ensuring latest group malware and virus protection software and patches are implemented.
  • Tests, plans, communicates and provides patching application to devices on a defined schedule.
  • Supports the central task force organization targets and goals for protection against malicious threats to network connected production devices/systems.
  • Plans, analyzes, designs (including functional design), defines requirements, tests and implements IT solutions according to BMW Group s IT Process Quality Management (ITPM) methodology.
  • Coordinates with project planners, CERT, central Task Force organization and IT for the installation or removal of network required by project work.
  • Works continuously to identify opportunities to apply new and existing technology to business processes.
  • Works with business key users to define technology needs, understand costs, business benefits and implementation requirements.
  • Documents and maintains complete device registry for the department.
  • Establishes and maintains technical security architecture, availability, overall performance and maintenance activities.
  • Ensures system availability, redundancy, backups and recoverability (installations, upgrades, patches, business copies, preventative maintenance, high availability, fast recovery, drive lock, etc.).
  • Manages all related KPI for software licensing, malware protection, risk avoidance, network performance, etc. for production systems.
  • Manages multiple projects simultaneously including investment, budget, new product planning, development and implementation of system solutions.
  • Coordinates change management through communication of project plans, status updates, including milestone variance to management.
  • Administers and/or participates in group network meetings and Change Control Boards with business users and IT associates for information exchange and benchmarking activities.
  • Develops system interface scripts to automate administrative tasks and facilitate data movement.
  • Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work.
  • Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by management.
  • BA/BS Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or Computer Science or the equivalent of 4 years professional of engineering, IT or controls experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in IT or Systems Management (preferably in a manufacturing environment) to include system security, project management, administration, network services, business processes, script creation and operating systems required to support production.
  • 2+ years of experience planning, analyzing, designing, testing, implementing, and maintaining production systems and developing related IT solutions.
  • MS Professional Engineer or A+ Certification (preferred).
  • 2+ years of knowledge of operating system management, system architecture and development techniques (Windows XP, 7.0, 10, CE), Windows Scripting and MSI package.
  • 2+ years of knowledge of system architectures; Operating Systems, Active directories, Group policies, Networks, Databases, Internet Technologies, & Data communication.
  • 2+ years of knowledge of networking, storage management, retrieval, redundancy and performance tuning concepts, high availability architectures and solutions (clusters).
  • Basic knowledge of Siemens TIA and Wincc flex (preferred).
  • Basic German language skills (preferred).
