Job Description

• Have deep understanding on transactional insurance accounting data flow across all systems to accounting system (SAP)
• Play the coordinated role to work with other sub-finance teams and IT team to set up/enhance systems to ensure high level of insurance data’s accuracy & completeness being recorded/adjusted on system.
• Provide technical system support to Insurance Operation & Accounting team members and support line manager to improve team’s productivity and facilitate automation where possible

A. Key routine insurance operation accounting activities (70%)

System set up for insurance accounting entries (Day 1 & Day 2)

Work closely with various teams in Finance & other Departments (e.g. IT, OP etc.) to facilitate following insurance accounting activities for Day 1 & Day 2 schedule.

  • Prepare user system requirement documentation to reflect needs to change or create new rules in accounting entries/system set up to send to IT
  • Work closely with IT and BAU team members to timely clarify and requirements and address any constraints that might need to escalate to higher level for advice/approval
  • Organize UAT plan to get alignment with both IT’s production schedule and readiness of UAT’s resources in the BAU team to follow project timeline
  • Ensure the timeliness of project deliveries as committed plan & provide timely head up for any potential delays to line manager & project team for awareness & alternative solution.

Insurance operation & accounting process improvement

Continuously seek rooms for

  • Enhancing existing insurance accounting entries on system (e.g. automate any manual bookings, adjust any wrongly booking set up)
  • Improving team’s work productivity via less manual works/more automated system via proactive proposal and collaboration with relevant teams to ask for support
  • Removing unnecessary requirements which could still ensure work quality yet be able to adapt to business changes
  • Identifying areas of operating risk and propose actions to improve/change existing process to mitigate and manage potential risks

Other system support

  • Support line manager to work with business teams for timely solving any insurance operating incidents related to system
  • Provide other technical support and training to team members when needed

B. Other ad-hoc activities (30%)

  • Play proactive role to work with other teams in Finance for proposing any process/system improvement/change to strengthen work productivity yet still ensuring work quality
  • Coordinate closely with financial reporting and IFRS17 team to understand & facilitate the UAT & go live process for those activities related to insurance operation (e.g. claim payout)
  • Play proactive role to get involved in other projects, initiated by both Finance & non-Finance team to provide insurance accounting expertise and support
