Job Description

Procurement actively leads the sourcing of over $9BN of goods and services needed every year by AZ, building relationships with reputable suppliers.   

The Strategy & Operational Excellence Team is the backbone of the procurement organisation and is responsible for driving performance, risk & compliance, commercial strategy, portfolio & productivity and people & supplier performance globally across the procurement function.  We are seeking to appoint an Intelligence Infrastructure Lead, and in this role, you will craft the data intelligence strategy & infrastructure that will support the delivery of the advanced analytics strategy within Procurement. 

By developing an intelligence infrastructure that is fit for purpose you will enable the delivery of high-quality data translated into actionable insights that will enhance AZ negotiation position, enable cost reductions and drive profitability.  You will be responsible for designing and governing the best data landscape by defining and mapping relevant data sources, robust and embedded data rules & controls and you will make sure the advanced analytics data strategy is aligned to the enterprise strategy. 

You will be responsible for data design, integrity and refinement that will feed the advanced analytics program which makes use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning to speed up identifying new markets, preventing supply chain risks, tracking exchange rate volatility and finding the best value without compromising on quality. 

Together with a team of data programmers, intelligence coders and commercial strategist you will ensure data is reliable, trustworthy, unified, secure and transparent and you will work closely with the other functions to break existing data silos and enable high quality actionable outcomes. 

Key Accountabilities

  • Work closely with One Procurement and business areas to understand the current data infrastructure, identify key data sources and points across the supply chain that will enable our data programmers and intelligence coders to deliver intelligence through use of predictive analytics 
  • Responsible for the set up of a fit for purpose intelligence infrastructure that will support the advanced analytics program, focusing on high quality data and embedded rules and controls to ensure data integrity and quality is sustained throughout its lifecycle 
  • Consolidating key Procurement data assets (internal & external) with clear definition of standards & exceptions 
  • Setting up data steward network within one Procurement community to drive awareness and improve compliance to agreed data standards 
  • Supporting the advanced analytics program with the identification, selection and contracting of relevant external data providers to support market and competitive insights. 
  • Partnering with Director Portfolio & Productivity to:

- Optimise data underpinning the CPO dashboard with the aim to drive an accurate view of process performance across Procurement 

       - Support projects of work to source good quality data 

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • In-depth knowledge and proven experience in a Data & Intelligence environment, planning & leading data programs and removing data quality & technology pain points 
  • Excellent project management skills, ability to drive opportunity identification and govern the project to completion 
  • Good analytical mindset, with strong attention to details 
  • Proven ability to drive change and influence at strategic levels 
  • Familiarity with intelligence tools and instruments as well as continuous evaluation of new methodologies 
  • Preferably knowledge of procurement principles, process and contracts development
  • Strong communication, collaboration and influencing skills on all hierarchy levels of the organisation
