YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Familiarization with large and high-dimensional longitudinal (time-dependent) data structures, as available via electronic health records
• Gaining insights into typical research questions of data scientists working in the pharmaceutical industry
• Development of a robust and generalizable quality control framework of longitudinal data
• Performance evaluation of different analysis strategies to conduct longitudinal data analysis on real world and simulated datasets (e.g. based on gaussian processes, mixed models, time series features extraction, functional data analysis, latent class trajectory models)
• Evaluation of how known limitations of electronic health records data (e.g., sparseness and selectivity of measurements) influence bias and precision of results
• Interaction with pharmacology and/or clinical research teams to support their projects by applying tailored longitudinal data analysis strategies

WHO YOU ARE

• Ongoing Bachelor or Master studies in relevant quantitative discipline (e.g.: mathematics, statistics, data science, physics, computer science, bioinformatics, engineering, psychology, quantitative social sciences)
• First experiences in data pre-processing, data analysis/modelling
• Experience in longitudinal (time-dependent) data modelling preferred
• Good programming skills, preferable in R or Python
• Interest in biomedical and clinical research questions
• Sufficient skills in English to communicate in an international team (German is not mandatory)

The internship can begin immediately for a duration of 3 - 6 months.
