International Renal Franchise Director

The International Renal Franchise Director will hold regional accountabilities to accelerate the build-out of AZ’s Renal footprint & portfolio within International (Ex-China).

The Renal Franchise Director will liaise directly with Global / Regional teams to develop the International Renal portfolio strategy, and work hand-in-hand with the broader CFT (Renal Launch Lead, Medical, Market Access) to ensure appropriate adoption of the Regional Strategy across the International markets, while ensuring its alignment within the broader CVRM TA strategy.

The Renal Franchise Director will work end-to-end, working hand-in-hand with the Renal Launch Lead to deliver exceptional Launch Readiness for our upcoming launch products within the International markets, while actively driving the performance of our Renal portfolio in Top International markets and acting as an enabler to drive acceleration of the in-market performance.

Finally, the Renal Franchise Director will chair the International Renal Launch Council with an objective to identify common needs across International & refine Regional priorities, lay out plans to shape the CKD patient ecosystems through regional, above-the-line initiatives, discuss the implications of new data readouts on International Renal Strategy, and establish AZ’s Renal footprint: steer comms priorities under ‘Rethink Renal’ and align on capability building plans.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Develop the Regional Renal strategy in alignment with Global teams and International CFT, while partnering with BBU GPPS to ensure Regional considerations are informing the Global Brand Strategies
  • Ensure appropriate adoption of the different Renal Brand Strategies across International markets through International-led workshops and participation in Area level meetings, while also continuously sharing best practices to accelerate scaling of successful local initiatives
  • Support the CVRM Commercial Director with shaping the overall TA strategy, and work in close alignment with the other Brand / Franchise Directors to identify leverage points across the CVRM portfolio
  • Partner with EMRADs & Global Product Heads to actively manage prioritisation of International countries within the roll out plans for NMEs / Line extensions, aiming to accelerate launches in the Region
  • Work hand-in-hand with the Renal Launch Lead / International CFT (Medical & Market Access) to drive implementation of pre-launch strategies in International markets
  • For all new launches, work with Renal Launch Lead to set and monitor KPIs within a complete Launch Framework to drive launch readiness in International markets, while providing appropriate resourcing guidance for MCs
  • Collaborate with medical to develop strategies for data generation, clinical practice shaping & Early Access Programs, and support implementation where needed
  • Manage & drive the performance in International through actively monitoring brand performance and key sales & performance indicators across Top International markets
  • Chair the International Renal Launch Council, and develop plans & partnerships to shape the CKD patient ecosystems and accelerate the establishment of AZ as a leading Renal MNC
  • Lead the development of Renal capabilities across the region, from delivering capability build programs at MC level to driving up awareness & understanding at ILT / CP level
  • Lead the planning and execution of the Regional activities, while ensuring effective, compliant agency engagement and active budget management (monitoring and reporting activity spent)
  • Provide input and support the Region, Areas and Markets in all key business planning activities (RBUs, QBRs and ABUs)
  • Identify future business partnering or development opportunities, manages external partners and liaises with key stakeholders to progress BD opportunities as appropriate

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience and knowledge of Renal TA
  • Qualified to degree level in a relevant subject area
  • Broad multi-disciplinary experience in a leadership role
  • Proven experience of understanding multiple customers and developing strategies to meet their needs
  • Effective cross-functional project team leadership and influencing skills
  • Effective cross-market project team leadership and influencing skills
  • Collaborative and agile leadership qualities
  • Builds strong strategic relationships internally and externally
  • Strong strategic business acumen
  • Extensive experience of product launches

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Experience of developing and executing portfolio strategies
  • Above country experience or experience in more than one market
  • Commercial experience in emerging markets including understanding of various healthcare systems and Regulatory, Access & Medical aspects of pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience with pricing and market access in several types of emerging markets
