How will you make an impact?

The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate the activities of the maintenance craft personnel to ensure that all critical services related to production needs, daily plant operations and systems and installation are carried out in a safe, thorough, and cost effective manner minimizing production loss due to down time or emergency situations while maintaining regulatory compliance. Responsible for compliance with state, federal, and local regulatory agency codes and adherence to company rules and regulations. Provide technical knowledge and schedule work assignments for maintenance staff to ensure that decisions are made so as not to adversely impact systems, equipment and processes causing major breakdowns or failures. Lead a group of professional/technical staff to perform maintenance and repairs of plant equipment and systems, including providing plant coverage 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. This position will be on days likely for the remainder of 2020, but in 2021 will switch to a shift of 11p-6a. The position will also require travel (10%) to sites in the US and Europe.

What will you do?

  • Perform preventive maintenance on packaging line equipment by completing predetermined and scheduled tasks.
  • Perform repairs to packaging line equipment, facility systems, and components, e.g., Cartoner, Bundler, Turntables, Labelers, Optel Vision Systems, Videojet Coders, Case Tapers and conveyers throughout the lines.
  • Troubleshoot, inspect, and adjust packaging equipment and components, e.g., Electrical and Pneumatic Control Systems, HMI interfaces, PLC, Variable Frequency Control Systems, couplings, motors, heat exchangers, and transducers.
  • Perform calibrations and/or tests/certifications on Particle Inspection equipment.
  • Assign appropriate staff to maintain preventative maintenance, planned maintenance and emergency ticket workloads.
  • Provide technical leadership to all craft staff members.
  • Provide craft supervision when the craft supervisor is not available.
  • Review proper priority and urgency of all emergency and “P” urgent tickets received by the craft.
  • Assist supervisor in field and shop work to make certain all SOPs are being followed and safety procedures maintained.
  • Provide a supporting role in the weekly planning effort between the craft planner and supervisor.
  • Provide leadership, when applicable or assigned, for all outside contractors performing maintenance work tickets for the maintenance shop. This includes coordination, inspection, and invoice reviews.
  • Maintain safe work habits and follow all safety procedures.
  • Provide emergency or on-call services as assigned.
  • Comply with all job-related, safety, cGMP’s, SOP’s and other training requirements in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all job-related safety and other training requirements.
  • Travel as requested for factory testing of new equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

How will you get here?

Education

  • HS diploma or GED required; military background in electronics and/or Associate's degree in a technical field preferred.

Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience of experience in electrical controls, vision systems and/or robotics
  • Strong electrical control background preferred
  • Previous experience in a leadership role is a plus.

  • Familiarity with vision systems preferred
