The Lead Solution Architect focuses on architectures for business solutions and will specialise in data and analytics across the Operations domain i.e. Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Warehouse Management, Quality.
The role involves scoping and architecting solutions that enable the desired business capabilities, delivering in alignment with AstraZeneca’s IT strategy, roadmap, principles and standards. The role will lead a team of Solutions Architects within the Data & Analytics domain.
Projects in which you'll be involved include but are not limited to: Smart Factory, Digital Uplift, Digital transformation. Data and analytics are a core component of the Ops Smart Factory strategy and also core to IT2025 and this role will play a lead in defining the architecture to deliver the strategy.
What you'll do
Design architecture frameworks and patterns aligned to Data & Analytics platforms and solutions including but not limited to: Data Lakes, Advanced Analytics, Reporting & Visual, Data Preparation, Data Profiling, Data Catalog.
Designs architectures, solution blueprints for projects or solutions that address business/application/data/infrastructure requirements
Work with Business Analysis and Solution Engineering functions and supports functional & technical requirements management.
Ensure that solution architectures and designs are appropriately robust and address business, application, information and infrastructure architectural requirements
Accountable for architecting and designing comprehensive solutions that meet business requirements and are aligned with the businesses Enterprise Architecture.
Partner with project managers, business analysts, and solution engineers to create solutions that are aligned to AstraZeneca architecture standards and principles, utilise common solutions and services, and meet the financial targets (cost and benefits)
Work very closely and collaboratively with the OpsIT Data, BI and Data Science leads. And also with the wider AZ IT data and analytics community from across the CFITs, Data Enablement, Enterprise Architecture and Shared Service teams.
Support the Lead Enterprise Architect in defining technology roadmaps.
Be accountable for solution evaluation and selection, buy vs. build decisions, and early-phase project estimates to support the business case
Provide technical & IT expertise support to project teams and conducts AZ architectural reviews throughout project lifecycle
Ensure compliance with existing EA guidelines and standards.
Contribute to project and service teams in the development, implementation and maintenance of standard architectural components
Document all architecture analysis and design work
Work with peers to develop the Architecture Capability within Information Services.
Required for the role
Relevant technical degree or equivalent
Prior experience of managing a team
Technologies: SAP HANA, BigData technologies, Spark, Presto, Front end tooling PowerBI, QlikSense, Data Science Tooling - Sage Makers and other similar platforms
Proven development/design experience in at least one technical domain
Ability to develop innovative solutions, blueprints and standards for solution design
Experience implementing and maintaining business solution architectures under any formal framework for their domain of architecture
Experience of developing and managing relationships with 3rd party suppliers
Good communication, facilitation and relationship management skills
Strong networking skills with good internal/external links
Strong knowledge of procurement business processes
Demonstrated initiative, strong customer orientation, and cross-cultural working
A willingness to travel internationally.
Ability to work well in diverse, multinational teams and demonstrated ability to influence others to achieve positive outcomes
Preferred for the role
Masters degree
Architecture certifications, e.g. TOGAF desirable
Experience in developing/maturing an architectural practice
Understanding of the pharmaceutical/healthcare industry, IT trends and of competitor activity
