How will you make an impact?

The Logistics Specialist takes responsibility for logistics activities supporting the Life Sciences Solutions Group. This role takes responsibility for directing, coordinating and controlling the transportation activities of inbound, outbound and transfer deliveries while ensuring we meet our service, quality, and cost objectives

Main deliverable is to keep the customer complaint level as low as possible by ensuring shipments and products are delivered in the most efficient and cost-effective way to the right place at the right time.

What will you do?

  • Function as a liaise officer between distribution and transportation; ensuring timely departure of shipments and calling out when there are deviations according to planning. Be the go to person for transportation related issues
  • Work with 3rd party logistics provider (Distribution center) to support:
    • Missing instructions from OF
    • Incorrect or missing order information or instructions
    • Ensure timely departure of EXW shipments and escalate when no collection is made
    • Ensure traceability of shipments
  • Coordinate transportation activities to optimize daily activity and flawlessly execute month/quarter and year ends.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance to routing guides and mode selection. Makes recommendations as appropriate for optimal transportation modes, carriers, routing, equipment and/or frequency.
  • Responsible for transportation complaint handling and work on corrective actions to be implemented
  • Participates in the Monthly Business Reviews (MBR) with the carriers.
  • Identifies and drives PPI (Practical Process Improvement) initiatives to maximize efficiencies, performance, revenue, profitability, and service levels
  • Supports the leadership team in improvement project idea generation, project chartering, action planning and implementation
  • Identifies and implements operational metrics and KPIs to drive the logistics organization to improve services levels and productivity
  • Supports and leads the initiative to standardize processes and document procedures within the logistics and import/export functions
  • Other activities, as assigned

How will you get here?

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in logistics management, supply chain management, operations or business management.

Experience

  • Current and thorough knowledge of all applicable legislations (ADR, IMDG, IATA…).
  • In depth understanding of (national/regional/international) transportation regulations. Strong understanding of global business and trade compliance (incl. Incoterms).
  • Experience with documenting and systematically maintaining process procedures and formulating, documenting, communicating, administering, and monitoring adherence to company policies and rules.
  • Experience and be comfortable in a highly structured/procedural environment.
  • Demonstrated strong business acumen, organizational and analytical skills

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Strong working knowledge of carrier operations and costs across all modes including Less than Truckload (LTL), Truckload (TL), inter-modal, Freight Forwarding Air/Ocean, Parcel, etc.
  • Superb organizational skills to plan, organize, and set priorities to facilitate timely execution
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a collaborative/integrative working style focused on accomplishing objectives.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and experience with SAP
  • Experience communicating directly with customers.
  • Fluent in English
