Production System & Lean Manufacturing


The BMW Group is recruiting an intern to support the various activities of the Manufacturing Production System and VPS Programme (BMW Lean Manufacturing system) based at MINI Plant Oxford.

What awaits you?

  • Management and support of various business steering and lean manufacturing approaches, such as definition of optimised Production Systems, Value Stream mapping, data analytics and innovation initiatives.
  • Review and improve the Business Planning process, including co-ordination of target setting, reviewing the strategic business plan and maintaining performance reporting in order to develop the future direction of the business.
  • Development of the long term planning for the manufacturing areas from logistics flow to buildings and facility locations to ensure the correct material flow through the operations.
  • Developing, preparing and facilitating various business strategy, target and process improvement activities – e.g. project management, project team participation, workshops, process development, documentations, trainings, coaching and steering etc.
  • Studying an Undergraduate Degree in Business / Operations Management, Innovation or Engineering related subject and on track to achieving a 2:1 standard or higher.
  • Ideally have knowledge/interest in Lean Production systems and techniques.
  • Able to demonstrate proven project management skills and experience.
  • Expected to be self-motivated and work as part of a team of experts managing a broad spectrum of complex topics.
  • Management of own projects, able to collaborate with the team at all levels of the business.
  • Driving License advantageous but not essential.
