The function of the Lab Systems and Operations Manager is to plan and supervise all maintenance and calibration activities within the R&D laboratories and manufacturing facility, improve work force productivity and implement safety and quality enhancements. The incumbent will train and supervise the maintenance and calibration technicians and ensure all areas assigned receive prompt, efficient and quality service. Within the role, the Lab Systems and Operations Manager will act as the primary liaison for cross-functional partners and provide project management responsibility for maintenance continuous improvement efforts. The position requires the individual to work in areas requiring select agents and toxins access. Responsibilities: Supervisory responsibility for maintenance function including performance evaluation, talent acquisition, succession planning training and performance management. Provides technical training and ensures compliance with safety requirements, current Good Manufacturing Practices, and Standard Operating Procedures within the group. Initiates standard operating procedures and work plans for preventive maintenance of new equipment. Performs periodic review of existing procedures in the document management system and implements changes as needed. Oversees the calibration and preventative maintenance work on various equipment/systems including autoclaves, washers, laboratory instrumentation, refrigerators, freezers, incubators, utilities and process equipment. Ensures all calibration and maintenance work orders are assigned, completed and properly documented in the asset management system. :Manages the service request system and makes tactical decisions regarding response time based on priority of the work. Communicates status of work to the requesting department ensuring prompt notification of any critical issues or delays that may impact lab and process work. Plans, coordinates and oversees the annual process lab shutdown, schedules work and coordinates vendor support where applicable. Ensures all tasks and facility activation procedures are completed and approved by department management. Financial responsibility includes delivering cost savings and support for management of the department budget. Qualifications Basic: Bachelor’s Science Degree with 2+ years of relevant experience, or a Technical degree with 5+ years of experience of relevant experience, or 8+ years of specialized experience (biopharmaceutical preferred).
