Provide support to the Associate Director, Shariah, Legal, & Secretarial by managing and carrying out the legal advisory function, including on product, operations, market conduct and litigation matters.

MIDDLE MANAGEMENT

Product-related review

To review all product related documents, and providing legal advice thereof before the product is launched, with the objective to:

  • ensure compliance with all applicable laws, rules and regulations;

  • ensure the accuracy, consistency, completeness and timeliness of all documents prepared; and
  • ensure the terms and conditions stipulated in the documents are clear and the Company's interest is protected.

Legal Advisory

  • Providing legal advice and conducting research on various matters relating to Takaful business, operational matters, regulatory matters and other matters referred by business units.
  • Providing legal advice on complaints made against the Company and make recommendations to the Management as necessary.
  • Drafting and reviewing agreements, letters and other documents required by the Company.
  • Attending Market Conduct Committee meeting in respect of intermediary misconduct and reviewing reprimand letters.
  • Providing and submitting reports required by Management or Group Office.

Litigation

  • Initiating legal suits required by the Company, managing and monitoring all litigation matters/suits both “for and against” the Company and reviewing Writs, Affidavits and other pleadings.
  • Coordinating with relevant business units in ensuring all documents/evidence are in place and liaising with Company’s panel solicitors for all litigation suits involving the Company.
  • Updating, monitoring and submitting quarterly report on litigation suits involving the Company for Management (or Group Office if required).
  • Maintaining and keep record of database of all legal suits involving the Company.

Promote legal awareness & maintain legal record

  • To advice the management on any legislation, policy or guidelines affecting the Company and to promote legal awareness to the Company. 
  • To maintain proper record of the Company’s legal documents.
