The Growth and Transformation Team:

The Growth and Transformation team acts as a business development and thought leadership group within the newly formed Omni Payments organization at PayPal. The team is focused on strengthening PayPal’s large enterprise platform value proposition and strategy. The team is relied upon to expand relationships with key partners, secure significant new business opportunities, and educate the broader organization on industry trends and best practices.

The Growth and Transformation team works closely with various internal stakeholders including Product, Sales and Accounts. We help these constituents develop business cases and understanding of market opportunities. Additionally, the team develops new partnership models and go-to-market strategies to facilitate overall business growth and benefit for customers. Lastly, the team owns Braintree’s relationship with several key payments partners including the Payment Networks, processors and Banks.

Our goal is to ensure that the value our customers receive far exceeds their expectations and that our platform is central to their growth strategy and overall business.

Responsibilities:

The Manager, Network Insights will be responsible for initiatives that drive incremental revenue, reduced costs and/or lower risks for PayPal and our merchant partners. This includes:

  • Assessing upcoming industry trends for commercial and strategic optimization opportunities

  • Consulting internal and external partners on such trends and how to best prepare for and capitalize on them

  • Develop and standardize the way PayPal communicates on these topics with large enterprise partners

Together with various partnering teams the Manager, Network Insights will strengthen PayPal’s ability to deliver strategic guidance and insight to our most important partners. Additionally, this role will lead related projects that capitalize on unique opportunities for PayPal and our merchants. Lastly, this person will support the development of new business opportunities by articulating PayPal’s capabilities in this space in key sales conversations.

A strong candidate will be self-motivated and able to act with a high level of independence. He or she must be entrepreneurial, comfortable with ambiguity and able to tackle complex business problems.

Additionally, this role requires “big picture” thinking so high-value opportunities can be prioritized and low-value ones can be set aside. Strong diplomacy skills and comfort with interfacing with various levels of organizations will also be important. He or she must also have experience working with large global financial institutions. Experience building best-in-class products for e-commerce will be valuable too. Finally, a strong candidate will have a deep understanding of the digital payments ecosystem.

Requirements:

  • 6-8+ years experience in a payments (cards and alternative forms) environment (processor, merchant, acquiring/issuing bank, card network/scheme), with experience both in e-commerce and card present with a focus on facilitating revenue growth revenue.

  • 6-8+ years experience in selling, supporting and/or implementing E-commerce/CNP implementations of payment services including front-end deliverables and relevant back-office reconciliation processes. Experience across multiple merchant verticals a plus (travel, subscription, digital goods and services, SAAS, etc.)

  • Understanding of Payments and Financial Systems

  • Significant people and organizational management skills. A natural leader and mentor.

  • Experience managing global external relationships.

  • Strategic in all things, Strong quantitative and analytical abilities.

  • Intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn all of the facets of our products and process.

  • Detail oriented, with attention to nuances in executing large scale projects with lots of moving pieces.

  • Keen listener with recognition that success is rooted in understanding.

  • Strong communicator who takes his/her job seriously but does not take himself/herself too seriously. Experience working effectively with senior leaders, peers, and direct reports.

  • Action-Oriented.

  • Ability to execute, problem-solving to streamline processes and building to scale.

  • Willingness, ability and desire to periodically travel (domestically and internationally) is

  • required, with knowledge and fluency in other languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese a plus.
