In this role the manager has immense flexibility to organize and execute against our vision, including:
Attracting and hiring world class talent to build out a world class API Platform team.
Defining our multi-year technology and product strategy
Driving a service operator first mindset in the team, ensuring the team and platform is operationally excellent and has clear processes and responsibilities for live issues.
Organizing the team and development processes to continuously improve our development efficiency
Innovating on behalf of our partners to provide new capabilities, greatly simplify the platform, and drive down technical debt
We are looking for the following in a candidate:
Ability to drive the hiring process, including sourcing, to land top tier talent
Extensive Distributed Systems experience
Extensive public facing API experience
Strong understanding of SDLC in a 24x7x365 highly trafficked environment, including best practices for development, testing, preventing service interruptions, and ensuring API quality
Technical and operational understanding of distributed systems at scale (monitoring, deployment, alerting, resiliency, etc)
Excellent technical communications skills to communicate at all levels, from SVPs to intern engineers.
Courage to drive the right thing the right way in the face of randomization and pressure to do things quickly instead of correctly
At least five years managing others including two years managing managers
At least fifteen years software engineering experience in any role
At least five years of experience software engineering building backend services and public APIs at high scale, availability, and resiliency.
Payments industry experience a strong plus
