This role will be based at our Penfield, NY site.

How will you make an impact?
The Material Planning Specialist schedules and monitors the movement of material through the production cycle. This role is also responsible for determining material requirements from engineering and production schedules, coordinating the efficient movement of materials with purchasing, production and engineering and developing specifications for new contract orders. The Material Planning Specialist is responsible for procurement business system data input and integrity; creates and maintains bills of material and parts/commodities numbers in supply chain management or other enterprise-wide systems.

What will you do?

  • Assure material availability at site of min 3 week
  • Manage inventory levels by defining clear max inventory levels and manage to those
  • First level of escalation and management of supply component interruptions
  • Issuance of releases/call offs (not negotiate price, payment terms and change/select suppliers)
  • Responsible to plan material ramp/up and ramp-down
  • Manage the implementation date of engineering changes based on stocking
  • Maintain master data – MOQ’s (joint), safety stock, min/max
  • Raw Material Inventory Health (E&O, MOQs, SS)

How will you get here?

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, or related field is required. Master of Business Administration (MBA) or other advanced degree preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years related experience, or advanced degree with limited experience; or equivalent work experience.
  • APICS certification preferred.
  • Relevant experience in the Life Science or Medical Device industry preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green / Black Belt Certification preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Developing professional expertise, applies company policies and procedures to resolve a variety of issues.
  • Exercises judgment and independence in identifying next steps.
  • This is the level at which scientific, technical and/or functional principles, concepts and practices are understood and some real world experience applying these concepts is required. This may be the entry point for some job families where experience, albeit limited, is required to be successful.
  • Demonstrated expertise in ERP/MRP Planning systems, including all relevant planning parameters such as inventory controls, replenishment, warehouse management and procurement functionality in ERP and best-of-breed software solutions is strongly preferred, with specific emphasis on SAP ECC, EWM and APO
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, Access, Outlook).
  • Strong knowledge or planning and purchasing systems.
  • Solid understanding of concepts of inventory flow throughout the supply chain.
  • Strong understanding of concepts of inventory management and distribution planning.
  • Strong customer service focus.
  • Ability to develop and provide reports to satisfy ongoing inquires on inventory, capacity and product availability.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate critical information.
  • Good problem solving and reasoning skills to effectively deal with problems varying in complexity relative to job level.
