Position Summary:

The Mass Spec, Microbiology Field Application Specialist owns and manages the technical relationship with the customer. This workflow solution is a pioneering In-Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) solution to clinical microbiology customers. This role holds responsibility for providing expert applications support for sales to drive workflow solutions. Together with the Key account manager and Clinical Account Managers this roles provides the technical support needed to support proposals and sales being closed. They build close relationships with customers and end-users to manage the opportunity, both pre and post opportunity close.

Responsibilities:

  • Give expert technical support to all qualified sales situations, to include, product demonstrations, on or off site. Manage trials & evaluations, including presentations at seminars/symposia.
  • Organise and conduct customer / end user training, and provide after-sale technical support until the customer has reached a position of competence.
  • Understand & map the customers workflow to ensure adoption, meeting their technical and budget requirements.
  • Support the sales teams in the field with training, technical information & customers sales calls
  • Meet the sales targets through selling in partnership with the field-based sales teams and Key Account managers.
  • Use our PPI tools and methods to improve business processes and work with customers on their process improvement as necessary to drive a workflow solution.
  • Work with the marketing team to disseminate our core strengths and product positioning, marketing campaigns
  • Produce a monthly report of key account activities including, factors affecting sales and competitor activities.
  • Provide a forecast of instrument requirements for the year and update the forecast at the end of every sales period
  • Use SAP CRM as the primary reporting tool; all activities and opportunities must be recorded.
  • Work with other Thermo Fisher Scientific divisions to maximize cross selling opportunities.
  • .Ensure successful installation and implementation for the customers

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Successful track record supporting technical sales in instrument system/reagent package selling in IV’D over at least a three year period
  • Ability to work with customers to make deals meeting their technical and budget requirements, and close opportunities
  • Degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or related field essential
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
  • Sound financial skills to help customers develop business plans
  • Relevant microbiology laboratory experience
  • Microbiology/Mass Spec Systems knowledge and experience
  • The role will require a minimum of 80% in field with customers
