The National Director, Hospital Surgical reports to the Senior Vice President, US Allergan Aesthetics Sales and is responsible for setting direction and executing on the sales targets and market share objectives for the US PRM Hospital Surgical Sales team.   This position is also responsible for leading, developing, and motivating a medical device field force; developing and maintaining top-targeted customer and KOL relationships; ensuring appropriate policy, procedures, and reporting systems are applied in a compliant manner consistently across the sales organization.

Serves as the key interface with Marketing in providing field input regarding competitive threats and product improvements and as a member of the PRM Leadership Team (PRMLT) to establish the long-term strategic direction and ensure achievement of the annual operating plan and budget for the franchise.

Major Responsibilities:

Sales Leadership:

  • Directs the business’s sales strategy and selling activities:
  • Effectively drives and manages sales budgets and expenses and allocation of sales resources to meet/exceed Glaucoma Surgery revenue and market share objectives.
  • Understands surgeon and facility needs and proactively advances expansion of the PRM portfolio through a complex selling/buying cycle.
  • Develops deployment strategies, identifies targets and allocates manpower to optimize sales growth.
  • Leads the sales direction and has the vision and passion to inspire, excite and exceed objectives.
  • Establishes challenging goals and sets high standards in a complaint manner for the sales force.
  • Ensures the proper and timely communication and execution of field-based marketing plans to meet/exceed sales objectives.
  • Manages proper utilization of other Allergan Aesthetics resources and personnel to maximize sales.
  • Delivers key messages, presentations, and co-leads national sales meetings.
  • Works collaboratively with Marketing and Corporate Healthcare counterparts to ensure alignment of strategy and execution.  

Field Sales Deployment & Execution: 

  • In conjunction with SP&A, maps/aligns territories for revenue and market share achievement and allocates sales territories quotas.
  • Oversees and ensures all field sales talent sourcing, recruitment and on-boarding in a timely manner. 
  • Works with SP&A to ensure sales incentive plans are developed to meet corporate objectives and are executed and communicated appropriately. 
  • Understands market dynamics, reimbursement trends and key business drivers, and partners with marketing team to provide input into plans and execute on directives in a compliant manner,
  • Provides recognition for outstanding sales achievements and contributions.
  • Identifies and creates with the appropriate functions the necessary programs and tools to ensure skills and programs are understood and executable by all sales personnel. 

Customer and KOL Relations:

  • Develops tactics to drive sales and influence through key opinion leaders and top target customers.
  • Ability to manage customer crises.
  • Understands ASC, Hospital Surgery models and stakeholders.  

People Management:

  • Leads, develops, and coaches a team of sales leaders in areas of recruitment, performance, and development of a hospital surgical sales force.
  • Identifies key talent and ensures their development based on the applicable career paths and planned succession. 
  • Identifies strengths and opportunities for all team members and identifies developmental plans.
  • Ensures annual work performance reviews and talent reviews are completed and administered in a timely manner.
  • Exhibits a leadership style consistent with operating in a compliant and constantly changing environment.

Qualifications

Education/Qualifications:

  • BS/BA required  
  • Minimum 7 years of Corporate Healthcare or Sales Management experience required
  • Minimum 7 years of Med-device experience
