Do you want to work on some of Microsoft’s most widely adopted and used SDK’s and libraries in an open source development model?

The Identity division at Microsoft has a very high impact and critical Group Engineering Manager role  leading the engineering teams that deliver Microsoft’s authentication client libraries (Microsoft Authentication Library or MSAL). These libraries are built in a fully OSS model and delivered for a wide range of platforms : iOS, Android, .NET, C++, JS, python and more to come. The libraries are used by applications to integrate with Azure Active Directory and Microsoft Account systems. The team has recently released a revamped and significantly improved developer experience (see - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/develop/v2-overview) and has exciting plans for the future with a lot more great things to come.

Responsibilities

• Manager of managers role managing a team of about 50 engineers
• Driving a high quality, customer focused engineering culture
• Collaboration and partnership across the entire company to land and deliver on scenario and customer needs involving authentication
• The role has scope driving initiatives involving Identity across the entire division and company – for example our initiative to improve authentication quality and reduce unexpected authentication prompts.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience leading software engineering teams (design, architecture, development and quality assurance)
• A proven track record as a Group Engineering Manager (manager of managers) leading successful teams to deliver results
• Developing and growing team’s capability - managing, growing / coaching engineers to high performance
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
• A passion for driving customer-obsessed engineering cultures and diverse and inclusive teams.

Highly valued specific skills:

• Passion for developer scenarios, building great SDK’s across multiple platforms and languages
• Open source community / development experience
• Cross platform development / experience with multiple languages and platforms – we have libraries for DotNet, iOS, Android, Java, Python, C++ with more on the way
• Identity experience – e.g. OAuth/ OIDC, AAD, MSA
