The Digital Health Market will grow exponentially over the next 3 years, with new applications in digital showing in phase 3 studies significant benefits for patients including overall survival in Cancer

AstraZeneca would like to leap frog in this area and has prioritized digital in R&D as a critical strategic area of focus by 2025, as part of the overall company strategy.

Digital Health R&D’s ambition is to transform healthcare, powered by digital, science and collaborations,
to deliver the healthcare outcomes and experience that patients care about the most.

The Digital Health R&D journey incorporates 3 key stages:

  • Stage 1 – foundational, reimagine how we work, by maximizing the use of digital, data and analytics transform processes within R&D to gain significant benefits on speed of the portfolio (goal 9 months acceleration) productivity (goal -20% reduction in cost per patient per year) quality at source, patient experience and probability of success.
  • Stage 2 – advanced, redefine clinical trials and digital health to improve overall patient experiences and outcomes, example redefining patient populations, remote clinical trials, patient apps to reduce/manage adverse events and improve patient outcomes (OS), using data from EHMr and RWE instead of control arms, and through PROs and continuous patient monitoring, creating new end points enabling studies in earlier stages of disease (ctDNA changes) prolonging significantly patients’ lives
  • Stage 3 – future-readiness, reimagine healthcare, examples, AZ as a healthcare provider beyond medicines for certain indications (example: Breast Cancer, proving monitoring, predictive analytics and therapies for improved outcomes)

Reporting into the Delivery and Operations Performance Director this role is responsible for the support, maintenance and documentation of the governance and performance tools used across Digital Health R&D.

Typical Accountabilities

  • Maintenance and upgrades to tools such as; Confluence, Risk and Issue Log, Miro, MS Teams (also connecting to SharePoint), and PowerBI.
  • Proactively identify and resolve technical issues associated with tools such as; resolving technical issues with the excel files, making updates like the drop-down lists, adding/deducting columns when needed and ensuring the connection with PowerBI is not broken.
  • Provides appropriate 1st line user support and act as Digital Health R&D helpdesk for tools utilised across the function.
  • Monitor the integrity of data in the Digital Health R&D governance tool set and suggest improvements
  • Promoting best practices on MS Teams and other tools by creating one-pagers or short videos with tips
  • Support communication activities with technical knowledge i.e., All-hands calls or Town halls

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Essential

  • University degree or high school diploma and relevant experience
  • Experience of a variety of software/systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Can create and maintain systems for efficiency for both self and others
  • Customer Service Skills and Focus
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment as well as independently
  • Good organizational and analytical skills; Demonstrates ability to follow tasks through to completion
  • Good written and spoken communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience in utilising JIRA, Confluence, MS Teams, PowerBI, Miro
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Relevant vocational qualifications or equivalent experience
  • Professional qualification
  • Proven analytical thinking, concern for standards, and willingness to learn from others
  • Proactively identifies risks and issues and possible solutions; helpful to the rest of the team
  • Performance Driven
  • Experience working in Agile deliveries
