Job Description
We are currently looking for a talented colleague to join or team in Newport and step into the role of a Production Operations Manager.

Role location: Newport South Wales (United Kingdom)

The job:
  • To provide leadership and management for the effective production and on-time delivery activities of all products and consumables produced at the Newport site.
  • To ensure that all work is carried out safely within the agreed deadlines and effect contingency plans where necessary.
  • Ensure adherence to production plans and agreed deadlines through accurate forecasting and regular analysis of data, taking actions or providing recommendations in order to improve performance.
  • To create a strategy for production, aligning with business strategy requirements, executed with desirable and agreed results, focusing on driving year on year improvement.
  • Foster teamwork to remove obstacles and break down barriers to advance improvements.
  • Mentor direct reports to improve their leadership skill sets and overall effectiveness, driving responsibility, and accountability for speed and agility of execution.
  • To ensure the creation, communication and implementation of relevant Production goals and KPI’s, incorporating these into colleague performance discussions as necessary.
  • To ensure that all production activities adhere to the company quality management system by promoting and incorporating good manufacturing practices which are implemented consistently across the manufacturing team. Also, to ensure that any procedure or process changes are properly documented and controlled which result in a positive business outcome.
  • Work with the various different functions of the organisation to achieve lean best practice while maintaining the company’s ethical working standards.
  • To interface to the Operations management and the Divisional Leadership Team (DLT) when required and provide any necessary information requested.

Who we are looking for: experience, skills & abilities
  • Science or Engineering degree educated and/ or extensive production management experience/ knowledge
  • Strong leadership skills with a focus on team building
  • Strong relationship building and influencing skills
  • Strong planning and organisational skills and change management experience
  • Excellent business acumen with a strong working knowledge of Employment law and Health & Safety
  • Excellent knowledge of and experience driving Process Improvement approaches (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Practical Process Improvement, etc.)
  • People Management and Conflict Management Skills
  • Resource & Capacity Planning.
  • Inventory Management & Control Techniques
