Reporting to the Facilities Manager, the Facilities and Reliability Engineer is responsible leading the equipment reliability program, championing continuous improvement, running capital projects (up to $250k), and being the site expert on facility and utility systems.  The role combines the benefit of small site (agile and broad responsibilities) with the structure, knowledge, and resources of a leading global pharmaceutical company.

What you will do:

Lead the Equipment Reliability Program

  • Provide technical assistance in troubleshooting commercial operations and facility equipment.
  • Assess equipment failures and leverage findings to revise preventive maintenance tasks and/or modify equipment to eliminate failure mode.
  • Implement and manage reliability programs such as vibration monitoring, lubrication, IR, and water chemistry
  • Collaborate within and outside the AZ network to bring best practice to site.
  • Develop and monitor KPIs to measure the effectiveness of the Maintenance and Calibration Program.
  • Coordinate the Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) Program, undertaking activities such as coaching operations staff in autonomous maintenance, early equipment management, and setting up technician skills and training matrices.

Champion Continuous Improvement

  • Facilitate cross-functional groups in identifying and implementing equipment and process improvements.
  • Create and/or execute documents associated with change controls, commissioning, and qualification.
  • Measure/quantify cost savings associated with continuous improvement activities.

Be an Expert in Facility and Utility Systems

  • Act as the site SME on facility systems, including: HVAC; water systems; waste treatment; electrical distribution; emissions abatement and monitoring; clean rooms; and automation.
  • Capital project support.  Expected to design, plan and execute small capital projects (<$250k) and participate in larger capital projects.
  • Ensure that facility operates in compliant manner, initiating deviations when events occur and implementing any resulting CAPAs
  • Perform reporting for alarm management and local regulatory agencies (air quality and sanitary sewer districts)
  • Supervise outside vendors, contractors and consultants.  Ensure that their work is performed safely, is of a high standard, and properly documented.
  • Champion company environment, health and safety policies

Required:

  • BS degree in Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline with at least 4 years of engineering or manufacturing experience in a cGMP context.
  • Independent thinker, who with little oversight, can identify and diagnose problems, and implement appropriate and sustainable solutions.
  • Self-motivated, excellent interpersonal skills, with a positive attitude and the ability to work with people from varied backgrounds and experiences.
  • Proven project management track record of delivering projects on-time, in-full and on-budget.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.  Demonstrated ability to work effectively with cross functional teams.
  • Available to perform after hours and weekend work, including being on-call.

Desired:

  • Experience with computer maintenance management systems (ideally SAP).
  • Background in Reliability Centered Maintenance or similar programs (e.g. TPM, Lean, OpEx etc.).
  • Background in Facility System and Equipment.
