Job Description

Microsoft Research New England has multiple research intern positions in the Economics and Computation group and Microeconomics group for the Summer of 2020. Research areas include market design, algorithmic game theory, social network theory, applied microeconomics, microeconomic theory, public economics, industrial organization, behavioral economics, and applied and theoretical econometrics (including ALICE).  Potential mentors for this position include Hunt Allcott, Greg Lewis, Brendan Lucier, Markus Mobius, and Vasilis Syrgkanis.

The Economics and Computation group and Microeconomics group include researchers at MSR NE and its sister lab MSR NYC, who collaborate closely.  Both internship postings can be found on the Economics and Computation website; candidates are encouraged to apply to multiple postings.

The lab is highly collaborative and interdisciplinary and is actively engaged with the local academic and tech communities. 

Responsibilities

During the 12-week internship, students are paired with mentors and expected to collaborate with other interns and researchers, present findings, and contribute to the vibrant life of the research lab.

Qualifications

Required Qualification

 

  • Must be currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.
