Revenue Manager

Location: Ballincollig, Cork, Ireland.

Reporting To: Senior Revenue Manager, PSO revenue

What is primary need, technical challenge, and/or problem you will be responsible for?

The primary need is assistance with managing period end and quarter end close activities.  This would include, but is not limited to, reviewing close reconciliations, reviewing and posting manual journals, coordinating and reviewing quarter end reporting requirements.  Also, assistance is needed with managing ad hoc projects related to both system and close procedures.

Success in the Role: What are the performance goals over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

Understand and analyse all agreements being transitioned to VMware within the following key goals:

  • Within 30 days of employment, become competent with VMware’s revenue systems, revenue rules, guidelines, and standard operations from review of the VMware revenue policy, training materials and recordings.
  • You will need to be responsible for assisting with all period / quarter end activities related to VMW professional services.
  • You will need to manage and coordinate testing for any roadmap items and changes to the revenue systems for Professional services.

What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

Your regular activities may be modified to suit your professional strengths, but you can expect a variety of the following assignments:

  • Coordinate period end and close activities, primarily focused on the PSO credits close management.  This will include, but is not limited to, review of reconciliations to source systems (MyLearn and Changepoint), posting of manual journals, resolving issues with the revenue system integration and processes.
  • Perform review and reconciliation of all GL balances to revenue source systems and supporting files.  Investigating differences and resolving issues where needed.
  • Be involved in the management and prioritisation of roadmap items for deployments of changes to any systems impacting revenue, mainly focused on RevStream 5x, MyLearn and BI reporting tools.  This will involve identifying issues to be corrected, prioritising them, reviewing any upcoming deployments for revenue impact, and testing where needed.
  • Preparation of internal and external reporting schedules on a period/ quarterly basis with adherence to Revenue SOX Controls and execute ad hoc analysis and reporting as required.  Assist with quarterly and annual internal/ external audit requests
  • Assist in identifying and implementing process improvements and automating manual processes, while continuously challenging the status quo.
  • Maintaining and updating, where required, any SOX documentation related to controls you are responsible for.

What is the leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

You will be joining the PSO Revenue team. The team is constantly growing as the activities grow through merger activities etc.  We are currently a team of 11 comprised of Revenue Analysts, Senior Revenue Analysts, Team Leads, and Managers. The team is spread globally with team members in Bangalore, Cork and various locations in the US.

The team culture is one based on building trust, on-going development through coaching, and giving back to the community through service learning.

The role will be based in Cork and will be reporting to the PSO Senior Revenue Manager based in the US.  The team in Cork works closely with the other locations on almost all tasks as we aim to utilise different time zones to provide around the clock support to the operations teams and customers.  The management style is collaborative and supportive, while encouraging the team to lead and take ownership of tasks.
