The Risk Assurance function provides assurance over the processes that are fundamental to risk management and feed into the risk profile of the Bank. This is achieved by methods of evaluating key processes that fall under the responsibility of the Chief Risk Officer and collaborating with senior management across the Bank to identify meaningful improvements. Additionally, Risk Assurance conducts continuous objective and effective validation of the adequacy, conceptual soundness, and effectiveness of the Operational Risk Management Framework, including the application of operational risk policy requirements in the Lines of Business/Corporate Staff functions impacting both the first and second lines of defense.

  Responsibilities:

· Contribute to the ongoing assurance and independent validation of the Firm’s Operational Risk Management Framework (ORMF) methodologies, processes and governance, as well as ensure the integrity of the inputs to the measurement systems / models, by conducting audit-like test activated to help deliver upon Risk Assurance’s annual review Plan, including:

o   Participate in controls testing, quality assurance reviews and remediation testing as assigned.

o   Conduct outcomes analysis testing using large volumes of data to ascertain if the application of key controls is effective.

o   Conduct detailed analysis of process/control/metrics using various techniques including data mining and analytics.

· Support the growth of an expanded Risk Assurance function by participating in reviews of processes, varying in scope and complexity, that impact the Risk  & Compliance function.

· Prepare findings to be presented to Management (i.e. upon completion of testwork, will be required to articulate / report on results from review work performed, and document outcomes, including observations, in a clear, concise and contextualized manner).

Work independently to support the Risk Assurance Senior Team Members in achieving review objectives across multiple reviews - sometimes concurrently - in a collaborative team environment.  

Qualifications

·         Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in business management, finance, computer science, or engineering

·         7-10 years of experience in operational/enterprise risk management, process improvement, project management, audit or assurance

·         Understanding of a financial banking organization and the related businesses that may exist within, as supported by support functions (i.e. Operations, Technology, Risk, Compliance, etc). 

·         Clear awareness and knowledge of the 3 lines of defense, and the division of roles & responsibilities across 1st and 2nd line.

·         Strong knowledge of risk and control best practices, and how that should manifest in key control design / execution across the 1st and 2nd lines of business.  Fundamentally, the individual needs to understand how effective controls should be embedded within an organization to drive effective risk management practices. 

·         Team player, high degree of initiative, flexibility, excellent problem solving and communication skills (verbal and written); ability to articulate complex concepts in a clear manner

·         Demonstrated ability to interact cross-functionally and drive results
