Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Seed Quality Lab Technician, are to: 

 

  • Maintain a clean, healthy and safe working environment in compliance with Bayer Environmental Safety and Health guidelines, housekeeping practices, trainings and task appropriate PPE;
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in QC tests in accordance with established AOSA/ISTA/Bayer rules, procedures and/or work instructions;
  • Be able to troubleshoot and assist other lab techs with defect identification when necessary;
  • Be familiar with physical appearance product quality standards and customer expectations;
  • Be accredited AASCO sampler;
  • Have a basic proficiency at probing, mixing and dividing in order to create Master or Working samples;
  • Prepare sample shipments (domestic) to quality labs;
  • Manage physical retention samples, including locating retention samples in the carousel or designated shelves and purge outdated samples;
  • Maintain sample locations in SAP;
  • Act as a quality representative within supply chain processes as needed;
  • Support the training and competency of new full-time and contractor technicians;
  • Cross-train with other functions on processes where we may need to offer support during high volume or critical periods;
  • Maintain and calibrate equipment, review of ISO-Quality Management Systems documents and management of lab supply needs;
  • Create inspection lot and assign inspection plans based on seed processing stages and product quality requirements;
  • Replenish retention samples;
  • Have a potential to work in a dusty environment as needed;
  • Lift up to 60 pounds;
  • Perform repetitive tasks throughout the day.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent and at least three years of experience in a Quality, Biological, Agricultural, Manufacturing or related field;
  • Associate’s degree may substitute for work experience;
  • Ability to communicate in English (verbal and written) issues and status of tasks in a timely manner;
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural team environment;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook;
  • Strong organization, detail oriented, flexible, highly dependable, with ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks in a fast paced, deadline driven environment;
  • Ability to subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure (including whole numbers, common fractions and decimals);
  • Basic knowledge of laboratory procedures.
     

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint.
