We are getting ready to launch and scale a stealth travel tech startup that uses machine learning to power personalised discovery, planning and booking of experiences and activities. Financially backed by one of the largest global travel brands, this venture is well-positioned to disrupt the $250 Billion APAC travel experiences industry. The company is currently in pre-launch and is expected to enter the market early-2020. 

 

We're looking for motivated senior back end engineers to join our journey. As one of our first engineering hires, you will be responsible for using your technical expertise to help shape the product from an early stage and implement core features of the platform.

 

This is an opportunity to work in a team with other senior engineers, designers, and product managers who deliver high-quality software.

Required experience:

• We're using Ruby on Rails with PostgreSQL, testing with RSpec and deploying to AWS, but if you have the following experience, we think you'd be a great fit:
• Solid experience shipping code with a dynamically-typed OO language like Ruby or Python
• Building production-grade backends with a mature framework like Rails or Django
• Working with relational databases like MySQL or PostgresQL, and with ORMs like ActiveRecord, the Django ORM, or SQLAlchemy
• Deploying your own code to production with a CI/CD pipeline
• Building software in a security-conscious way, especially keeping in mind things like the OWASP top 10 vulnerabilities
• API design and structure, especially in collaboration with the frontend team
• Working closely and proactively with product managers and designers to deliver a high-quality user experience

Optional experience:

• Please also let us know if you have experience with any of the following, although these are not required:
• Infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform, and/or container orchestration tools like Kubernetes
• Containerization tools like Docker
• Experience working in the travel industry or with B2C platforms
