As a Senior Consultant - System Architecture, you focus on the acquisition and delivery of projects in the front-end of the innovation process, translating business strategy into an integral architectural design, with a focus on solution architectures and associated domains. You will work with experienced architects of Philips Innovation Services to make our vision alive of being recognized as leader in Business Ecosystem thinking for the Philips organization and external customers, whilst mastering Solution Architecture that serves the business agility as digital champion in the domain of Healthcare (and beyond).

Your responsibilities

As a Consultant System Architectures (in terms of project delivery) you:

  • Are supporting the creation of business eco-systems and solution architectures, ranging from user experience platforms, technology-, organizational- to business architecture domains.

  • Facilitate strategic decisions on architectures on system of systems, connected systems, products and innovation roadmaps, supported by financial modeling.

  • Assess the performance of the architecture and roadmap creation processes and advise on improvements in the process, methodologies and tools.

  • Coach R&D managers, system architects and development engineers and being the linking pinto business stakeholders.

  • Work complementary and provide hands-on support to the teams at the customer side and support organizations to embed structural improvements and innovations

In terms of project acquisition, you:

  • Actively leverage your network to spot new opportunities and convert them into projects.

  • Develop and maintain multi-level contacts with your current clients to identify opportunities as follow up of running activities / projects.

  • Build a network for the system architecting domain and proposition;

  • Maintain a good overview of developments in your competence area and continuously improve our service propositions.

You are a part of

The Innovation Management team is part of the Industry Consulting department of Philips Innovation Services (located on High Tech Campus - Eindhoven - Netherlands) and is a dynamic group of (senior) consultants and business analysts. The (senior) consultants of the Innovation Management group cover the competences: innovation strategy, front end innovation, roadmapping & portfolio management, product-, solution- & service innovation, open innovation and value creation, strategic decision support, ideation, end-user driven innovation, development process improvement and product quality, outsourcing of development and intellectual property management. Their customers are both internal Philips businesses as well as external companies, located all over the world.

To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • Master’s Degree and relevant experience in a leading tech-company with 10 plus years of progressive related work experience, preferably in a senior architect role with a track record in multiple architecture domains.

  • Proven teamwork, including ability to work effectively across organizational and geographic boundaries, building bridges between teams.

  • Demonstrated experience leading and influencing development teams in a global, multi-location organization.

  • Architecture skills based on high quality delivery of solutions that include software and hardware.

  • Excellent communication skills and proven track record for developing high-trust relationships, including during times of escalations.

  • Understanding of mechanical, electrical and software architectures, and the relations with business strategy, marketing, project management, technology, manufacturing and the supply chain, external parties (suppliers, partners) and the involvement of all related stakeholders.

  • Good analytical skills to understand business strategies and roadmaps and the ability to translate these into practical decisions in architectures.

  • Acquisition and consulting skills (communicative, interpersonal, service oriented).

  • Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English with a willingness to travel. (up to 25%)
