Job Description
Advantest Test Solutions develops a wide range of complex test systems for the semiconductor industry. The ideal candidate for this position leads socket design and development in co-ordination with suppliers. He or she will perform a wide range of complex mechanical engineering functions related to the architecture, design, testing, and evaluation of sockets, handler socket actuation features, heat sinks and similar equipment. He/she will Conduct feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs and develops engineering prototypes. Serves on product development teams and may provide direction and training to lower-level professional and technical staff. Will also be called upon to resolve any field issues and provide direction to the field team. May be assigned responsibility for independent mechanical design projects which in some cases may not be solely socket focused. Responsibilities include: *Analyzes customer requirements for sockets, handler kits and thermo-mechanical collaterals such as heat sinks *Identifies risk areas and optimization opportunities. *Develops and implements mechanical engineering designs for new sockets, handler kits, systems and components. *Presents designs during Customer Design Reviews *Develops test specifications and evaluation protocols and initiates engineering change order requests. Interprets functional test results and presents findings to senior technical staff. *Performs integration testing and qualifications *Works as part of a team that includes manufacturing, quality assurance and technical support organizations to establish functional specifications for components and to select vendors/suppliers for purchased parts, materials and assemblies. *Provides guidance to lower-level staff members in area of technical expertise. Recommends innovations and improved methods, tools and processes. *Participates in the preparation of patent applications and memos of invention for trade secrets. *Acts as customer contact on selective technical matters. *Performs hands-on evaluation of prototype system build/sub-assembly build /thorough product performance assessment. *Works closely with external Technology partners on projects and successfully accomplishes common product design/ production goals.
