The Opportunity at AIA

This 6 month max term contract position exists primarily to support monthly management and annual statutory and regulatory reporting by assisting to ensure ongoing integrity of the general ledger. Applications are open for candidates in Sydney or Melbourne.

You will proactively manage and reconcile the general ledger, and internal and external financial reporting as well as ongoing process improvement and documentation. This role will also see you:

  • Performs month end close processes in relation to specified areas of responsibility within required timeframes

  • Month end requirements will also involve responsibility for completing reporting requirements to support all aspects of group reporting

  • Preparation of quarterly board papers and consolidated annual statutory accounts;

  • Provide support to Reporting Manager – Financial Control and Senior Manager – Financial Control with technical accounting support in terms of interpretation of new accounting standards and implications for local reporting

  • Assist in providing requested documentation and explanations to external auditors

  • Assist with the maintenance, documentation and testing of finance internal control activities

  • Completion and maintenance of procedural documentation as well delivering ongoing process improvement and efficiency as appropriate

To be successful in this position, you will have:

  • Education – Tertiary qualification in relevant subject matter (accounting, finance etc);

  • CPA/CA qualification (or international equivalent)

  • Experience in external audit

  • Sound technical accounting knowledge with experience in completing reconciliations and financial reporting

  • Experience in using general ledger accounting systems;

  • Experience in preparing consolidated annual statutory reports for ASIC and dealing with external auditors

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Advanced Microsoft excel skills

  • Knowledge of SAP including BI/BPC, SUN Systems and Vision

  • Background in life insurance with knowledge of insurance and finance terminology as well as regulatory reporting requirements;
