The Opportunity

BSI China is looking for experienced Senior HR Manager, supporting our greater China business.

Performing the function of a strong business partner to the China MD alongside his leadership team to develop and execute HR strategies and activities that enable growth, innovation, and organizational effectiveness, you will report to the Senior HR BP-Asia Pacific (Assurance Stream), and work collaboratively with the Global COE (OD, Talent Acquisition, HR Operations, Workday Project). To succeed in this role, you would understand business priorities and translate them into an HR agenda that supports the business.
The Senior HR manager, together with a small HR team, would support the business in areas such as performance management, employee relations, compensation and benefits, career development and leadership development and drive appropriate and thoughtful HR interventions that balance short results with longer term impact and focus.

We seek a Human Resource professional who has the ability to demonstrate thought leadership and embed HR initiatives and global ‘best practice’ into the local business. You will be commercially astute, have excellent communication and influencing skills, a strategic thinker, and be able to plan and execute on those plans.

Job Responsibilities
  • Build & develop a professional HR function to service the China and Hongkong region
  • Coach, support & guide line managers on best practice across the employee lifecycle, in accordance with BSI people processes and procedures
  • Provide robust employment law advice based on local knowledge, guidance on policies and procedures while coaching line managers in respect of ER Matters.
  • Collaborate with Global HR teams to implement initiatives including undertaking change management activities
  • Provide HR support in the Talent Review, Succession Planning process and developing strategies and development plans at Organisational and individual employee levels
  • Review and analyze data to identify trends and recommend action plans to improve employee engagement, retention, performance and organisational resilience
  • Become a trusted advisor and coach to the business
  • Drive HR transformation with Workday
  • Provide Management Information and KPI on key HR metrics ensuring ongoing focus and commitment to delivering incremental value to the business
  • Partner with managers to retain, develop and motivate people to achieve their full potential
  • Provide compensation support including salary planning, salary actions, promotions and job re-leveling

About You

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of experience in HR, including 3 years as HR business partner in both China and Hongkong (preferred)
  • Experience of managing a small team is preferred (not essential)
  • Ability to relate to, influence and coach employees at all levels in the organization
  • Proven ability to diagnose problems using strategic thinking skills as well as identify and drive appropriate solutions
  • Good working knowledge of Labour laws in China
  • Effective English and Chinese (Mandarin and/or Cantonese) communication skills - written, verbal and listening skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a matrix environment and to navigate leaders through a variety of organizational changes
