Job Description

The Senior Manager, Commercial Services Openings– Greater China & Mongolia is responsible for ensuring successful deliveryof all new hotel openings across Greater China & Mongolia region. The position will be responsible for allcommercial aspects of a hotel from preparation to a smooth opening (through workingin close partnership with hotel and other above-hotel commercial functions ensuringappropriate commercial strategy and marketing plan are in place and that thehotel is set-up appropriately in all channels), supporting in the ramp-up oncethe hotel is opened (working with the hotel and the regional commercial teamsto ensure the hotel gets to fair market share).

What will I be doing?

The Senior Manager, Commercial Services Openings– Greater China & Mongolia will be responsible for performing the followingtasks to the highest standards:

Business Acumen

  • Understand the use and sell our commercial engines (channels &services) internally and externally
  • Partner with hotel team, commercial stakeholders, pre-opening teams andthe other relevant departments to successfully open the hotel(s)
  • Translate organizational goals and priorities into performance standardsfor the pre-opening commercial services team
  • Determine the potential for each market that we are entering so that wecan create appropriate competitive sets, go to market plans & forecasts

Setting Strategy

  • Support the hotels’ General Manager and Commercial Director on the creationof commercial strategies and plans to launch in new hotels, and to get them to fairmarket share
  • Communicate clearly the strategy and performance
  • Gain buy-in and support for the relevant strategies and key initiativesrequired to deliver the strategy from stakeholders
  • Lead strategic planning across the commercial services team in theregion to advance the company goals while ensuring the communication of keymessages to internal and external stakeholders

Executing for Results

  • Act as the commercial representative to the cross functional openingsand collectively execute processes that ensures on-time, on-budget and on-brandhotel openings
  • Lead the above property commercial teams responsible for pre-opening aswell as working in close collaboration with the respective commercial heads in GCMand functional Heads; including and not limited to sales, revenue management, marketingand customer engagement, loyalty and partnership team
  • Ensure all commercial initiatives are planned adequately and managedproperly through to delivery

Building Relationship and Using Influence

  • Develop strong relationships with key commercial partners in GCM tostrengthen our commercial performance
  • Maintain strategic alliances with Global Database Management, HRCC,Distribution & Channel Management, and other important distribution centres
  • Maintain excellent relations and ensure coordination with the commercialservices GCM and APAC to enable collective effectiveness

Reports

This role will collaborate with Development,Brand Management, Technical Services, Hotel Operations, Human Resources, IT,Finance and other Pre-Opening functions to support the opening of new hotelsacross GCM

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a related field
  • Excellent in Microsoft Outlook, MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Critical thinking and both quantitative and qualitative analytics skillswith the ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths/weaknessof alternative and differentiated solutions, conclusions or approaches toproblem
  • Self-starter, well organized, extremely detail-oriented and an assertiveteam player, willing to take ownership of responsibilities, and possess a highlevel of positive energy and drive
  • Absolute discretion and confidentiality regarding sensitive information
  • BA/BS/Bachelor's Degree
