Job Description

Social Media Specialist is responsible for designing the communication strategy and overseeing the operation of social media platforms to facilitate the implementation of engagement and communication plans. The Social Media Specialist plays an important role at managerial level to ensure the efficient and effective operation of social media platform, for timely response and interactions with target audiences in accordance with the agreed direction and appropriate corporate image. Social Media Specialist shall have –

- (a) good planning and organising ability, problem-solving techniques, leadership and management skills in taking forward the plans and projects;
- (b) excellent sense on relating corporate hot topics to social interest, sensitive to audience response, quick decision making with skilful handling of feedbacks from the social media platforms;
- (c) be a good team player to cooperate with other team leaders
- (d) be alert to business and communication needs ; and
- (e) good interpersonal and presentation skill and present the feedbacks collected from social media platform and follow-up proposals .

The Social Media Specialist shall fulfil the following requirements – Experience .

- (a) shall have at least eight (8) years of relevant experience specialized in managing and strategic planning for corporate publicity/ public relations/ marketing with the use of social media platform. He/she shall possess solid experiences in operation and management of social media platform for brand building, promotion, public communication and interaction in various form such as text, graphics, animations, or video for interaction and engagement of stakeholders. Also, he/she shall possess sold experience in resources management, and excellent problem solving, presentation, negotiation and communication skills for handling large-scale campaigns and communication matters.
- (b) The job references of Social Media Specialist shall cover both Government/Public organisations’ and listed private companies’ projects, so as to demonstrate his/her understanding and familiarisation to the Government operation and procedures, as well as the capability to bring in state-of-the-art, creative or even trend-leading ideas and approaches for public relations, stakeholder engagement, promotion and marketing that applying in the private sector.


Academic qualification

- (c) The Social Media Specialist shall be a university graduate preferably in communication, marketing, public relations, media, event managements, social science, or other equivalent fields. He or she shall achieve:

- (i) Grade C or above in Use of English of the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE) or in English Language of the General Certificate of Education (Advanced Level) (GCE A Level), or language proficiency requirements of ‘Level 2’ results in the language paper “Use of English” in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) in HK, or equivalent; and
- (ii) Grade D or above in Chinese Language and Culture or Chinese Language and Literature of the HKALE, or language proficiency requirements of ‘Level 1’ results in the language paper “Use of Chinese” in the CRE in HK, or equivalent.
