POSITION SUMMARY

The Sr. Director, Research and Development will be leading a multi-disciplinary organization, across various technical expertise and application areas, providing technical vision, leadership and expertise driving product and technology development to meet portfolio roadmap objectives.

In addition to leading the R&D team to execute deliver to on-time, on-budget new product development portfolios and supporting the portfolio’s commercial success and customer adoption, critically this individual is responsible for developing and empowering the R&D teams and talents, maintaining an innovative, collaborative and inclusive culture.

This individual will also collaborate with other functions including program management, bioinformatics, software development, manufacturing, R&D shared services, product management, marketing and commercial team leaders to help drive and shape the global strategy and ultimate success for the Microarray Business.

Key Responsibilities:
The Sr. Director, R&D will have responsibility for providing leadership and focus to meet or exceed the microarray business unit objectives as follows:

Technical Leadership in New Portfolio and Technology Development driving Customer Success
 

  • Proven track record of leading teams to successfully develop and launch global life sciences and/or clinical
  • Experience with developing complex workflow systems total solutions e.g., instrument, reagents, and assays, analysis
  • Providing technical leadership in complex R&D programs partnering with product management, manufacturing, bioinformatics and software to solve problems, remove hurdles, identify limiting factors and risks as a coach and as a team
  • Engaging with field leaders and staying on the forefront of latest technologies with full understanding of market trends and customer full workflow and needs
  • Experience interacting with remote factories in launching new NPI’s
Strategic Acumen and Customer Focus
  • Gains alignment to support goals by integrating R&D and other disciplines such as Marketing and Product Management using a partnering and consultative approach. Effectively engages as an external liaison with customers to grow new business opportunities that drive the business.

  • Able to apply customer and marketplace knowledge to advance the innovation and ultimately business success

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have
  • PhD in Life Science and a minimum of 10+ years of senior-level management experience within the life science and/or clinical diagnostic industry
  • Strong team leadership and group management skills
  • Proven global experience
  • Ability to leverage the R&D portfolio against strategy and being involved in determining right product roadmap
  • Proven success in driving system development and in a leadership role
  • Must be a good team builder who can effectively and efficiently grow the organization to meet business goals
  • A partnering, consultative and open manner is key to success in this role
