Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced leader to run communications for BNY Mellon’s Corporate Services functions, and support cross-enterprise communications programs and campaigns. This individual will have responsibility for developing communications strategies in support of Human Resources, Finance, Legal, Risk, Real Estate, Operations and Technology – all while ensuring alignment with key enterprise communications objectives and reputational pillars. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will lead a team of professionals who manage internal and external communications, with a heavy emphasis on internal communications to the respective groups or across the enterprise. You must be an excellent writer and communicator with a track record of developing campaigns that resonate with audiences and drive measurable outcomes. The position is based in New York City.

Responsibilities:

Work with colleagues and senior leaders to develop and implement communications strategies that support the company’s reputational pillars and communications objectives.

Conceive and execute communications campaigns, ensuring they are aligned with business objectives, consistent in messaging, highly creative and drive measurable results.

Work collaboratively with senior leaders in the functional areas to plan and develop content.

Oversee the creation of quality content in a variety of engaging formats (e.g., articles, videos, executive blogs, infographics, digital signage, email communications, etc.).

Drive executive communications for the leaders of each function including speeches, presentations, social media posts, etc. Coordinate with media relations colleagues as needed.

Review and edit all written pieces, ensuring consistency in messaging and tone of voice.

Identify and advocate for the adoption of new tools and best practices.

Define and analyze metrics, share insights, and adjust plans with a focus on continuous improvement.

Manage a team of professionals. Engage agencies and outside vendors as necessary.

Qualifications

Highly strategic, innovative thinker with the ability to see emerging trends and the big picture. Ability to successfully drive projects from development to completion.

Strong project management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines, juggle multiple priorities and execute flawlessly with great attention to detail.

Demonstrated success developing and executing communications strategies and campaigns for large enterprises. Highly talented writer, editor, and storyteller.

Executive presence and the ability to effectively partner with senior management, including advising and forming trusted relationships with senior leaders.

Proactive and collaborative multitasker with exceptional communications skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Hands-on experience managing a highly proactive communications strategy, with a solid reputation for integrity, transparency and follow-through.

A passionate and high-energy style, with the commitment and enthusiasm to take on complex, challenging situations in a dynamic organization. Ability to envision, articulate, and realize both process and program improvements within the communications function.

Experienced in providing direction to creative partners, including agencies, writers, designers, videographers and photographers.

Excellent judgment with the ability to analyze, critique and offer recommendations for improvement.

Excellent analytical and organizational skills, and a personal reputation for honesty, integrity and above-reproach ethics.

Strong experience/knowledge of social media tools and techniques for driving reputation and brand, and advancing messaging with stakeholders.

Minimum 12+ years of related experience, including experience managing teams.

Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred.
