Scope

Develop and support the execution of dimensional and optical measurement processes, methods, and/or procedures.  Support the invention of new measurement processes.

Develop and support the execution of calibration routines for dimensional / physical test and measurement equipment.

Oversee the calibration system, ensuring compliance with ISO requirements.

Analyze the integrity of measurements and measurement processes through measurement uncertainty, gage repeatability and reproducibility, and other MSA tools and use the results to make decisions on measurement system capability.

Employ engineering and metrology statistics to analyze calibration and measurement processes and interpret results.

Day to Day Responsibilities

• Project work implementing new measurement equipment. 
• Conduct MSA and Gage R&R studies
• Ensure validity of measurement equipment and programs
• Provide technical direction to the measurement operators
• Review measurement requirements and methods with our supply base 
• Hands-on on involvement with the design, development, and implementation of measurement equipment and techniques that support manufacturing and product development
• Provide technical leadership and coordination with team  members and equipment suppliers with system builds and factory installations
• Identify and resolve gaps between attribute and technology roadmaps and existing measurement capability
• Engineer measurement solutions that are suitable for use in manufacturing.
• Work with a variety of cross functional groups (Development, Quality, IT, Purchasing, Operations) Work with scientists, researchers, and/or suppliers to understand first principles of systems and processes and develop improvements or enhancements to meet business needs
• Use statistical tools and designed experiments (DOE) in process problem solving and process improvement
• Support new product introductions through equipment design, installation, process certification, documentation and training.
• Provide day-to-day problem solving support to production, development and research operations.
• Understand Corning's Intellectual property management processes and follow that process in documenting any intellectual property developed as part of a project

Schedule

The position is for standard work hours, with some flex time required to cover off-shift meetings and meetings with teams in alternate time zones

Travel Requirements:

• 10-20% travel, including international, required for this position

Education and Experience:

1. Master to Ph. D. of Science in Engineering or equivalent technical experience or equivalent experience (exceptional case)
2. Minimum 3 years of experience in related work
3. Track record of delivering results
4. Demonstrated knowledge in a technical field
