    The Role

As part of our Platform Support Services team, we are seeking a Support Analyst to work in a large enterprise infrastructure environment including multiple operating Systems (Solaris, Linux, and AIX). Our servers host global back end, middleware, and front-end applications through a rigorously secured network. Our servers can be physical or virtualized. Our work can often be high pressure with problems requiring quick resolution and detailed analysis. You will have the ability to work well with co-workers, vendors, and other teams while remaining focused on problem resolution.

  Key Responsibilities:
  • System problem resolution including detailed analysis and reporting of the problem
  • System performance analysis  and tuning
  • Assist in resolution of application, database, middleware, etc., problems.
  • System automation
 

Sr. Specialist Infrastructure Operations Analyst->> Designs, implements, integrates, and provides full support for complex software in a multi-tiered, multi-platform environment. Researches and recommends the appropriate system software to meet corporate standards and objectives for system performance. Identifies and solves complex and critical systems related issues to meet the objectives for the corporation. Provides input into platform selection, version implementation, software product recommendation, and usage of enhanced functionality. Assists with complex issues in the installation, support, troubleshooting, and repair of data center equipment. Implements, integrates and provides full support for middleware software in a multi-tiered, multi-platform environment. Collaborates and consults with application development teams to determine middleware platform selection, efficient transaction design, use and recovery procedures in line with business requirements. Communicates with internal and external system users to address concerns and make sure that technical issues are dealt with appropriately. Manages ticket queues and handles complex escalated issues. Analyzes repeat incident patterns to identify opportunities for cost reduction and productivity enhancements. Works with vendors to ensure efficient incident resolution. Contributes to the achievement of area objectives. Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required, advanced degree preferred, 8 - 10 years of related infrastructure experience required, experience in the securities or financial services industry is a plus.

  • Enterprise level experience with Unix and Linux including troubleshooting, problem resolution, and monitoring.
  • Ability to self-direct in the context of not letting problem resolution stall.
  • Understanding of networks, routing and the relationship to server operation
  • Experience with and strong understanding of NAS and SAN storage.
  • Experience with optimizing Unix and Linux servers (i/o performance, cpu , kernel tuning,  etc)
  • Experience in dealing with virtualized hosts and resource sharing in this context.
Preferred
  • Experience with enterprise level automation
  • Scripting experience with shell scripts including Perl
  • Experience with tools such as Bladelogic, Ansible, HPOV , Tripwire
  • Understanding of enterprise level authentication.
  • Experience with AIX VIO and Solaris Zoning
