Job Description

Eaton’s Hydraulics Sector is currently seeking a Strategic Global Product Manager, Rubber Hydraulic Hose & Fittings to join our team. This position is based at our Eden Prairie, MN. Relocation assistance will be provided.

Position Overview:

The Strategic Global Product Manager will have product management responsibility for Eaton Rubber Hydraulic Hose & Fittings products within the Fluid Conveyance portfolio focused on multiple market segments on a global basis. Key responsibilities include market intelligence, product management, product marketing, product road mapping, portfolio management, business plan development, and product strategy for products sold globally. The Product Manager will work closely with functional leaders and regions to develop and implement growth strategies to drive product profitability, volume, mix, market share improvement, and review strategic regional pricing strategies.

This role has primary responsibilities for product category leader, product roadmaps, branding, competitive intelligence, strategic programs leader, and manufacturing footprint, and strategic pricing for first use (OEM) and second use (aftermarket) with regard to products sold in the aforementioned segments. This role will be key in directing a global focus on the respective product lines.

In this function you will:

  • Drive focus on growth for Rubber Hydraulic Hose & Fittings product portfolio, by leading a global Product Category Team that includes regional product managers, engineering managers, sales leaders and pricing managers.
  • Size the market based on an extensive bottoms-up analysis by competitor/market segment and triangulate the information with multiple data points and influences the top-down market sizing in the organization for the category/product line. Act as a major source of information for industry and market trends.
  • Acquire and retain comprehensive knowledge of competitive positioning and competitor strategies.
  • Lead development of product strategies including positioning; managing product, segment and channel mix; and developing targeted value propositions while monitoring and addressing product life cycles.
  • Provide leadership for core pricing strategies globally for the products in the focus markets.
  • Monitor product profitability for assigned product line and recommend changes to meet Eaton’s top and bottom line objectives.
  • Lead the Product Category Team members to propose prioritization of key strategic initiatives.
  • Interface with the Eaton Sales Team, distributors and customers to promote and support the sale of responsible product lines.
  • Provide consolidated product portfolio reporting to the fluid conveyance leadership team and be prepared to address product line specific issues.
  • Function as the lead on assigned product lines for integration activities, when acquisitions are made and integrated within Eaton Hydraulics.
  • Act as key commercial marketing resource for NAHAD, EDAC, EDM, trade shows and other related National/International forums. Participate in Trade Associations globally.
  • Develop visually compelling strategic plan presentations with a clear storyboard and structure. Influence key stakeholders in the organization to align to initiatives identified in the strategic plan and secure funding, as needed, by visually presenting strategic material to a high-level audience, including senior leaders/executives.
  • Understand and successfully use advanced industry best practice Portfolio Management tools and processes.
  • Increase our market share in underserved markets in the region and work with global teams to increase market share on the Rubber Hydraulic Hose & Fitting category product lines.
  • Develop sales and marketing tools necessary to support the regions.
  • Lead manufacturing footprint strategy for the Rubber Hydraulic Hose & Fittings.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or related field from an accredited institution. 
  • Minimum five plus (5+) years of relative industry experience.
  • Minimum two plus (2+) years of product marketing or field sales experience.
  • Must be able to work in the United States without corporate sponsorship now and within the future.

 

Preferred qualifications:

  • MBA from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum seven plus (7+) years of relative industry experience.
  • Minimum five plus (5+) years of product marketing or field sales experience in the fluid conveyance market.
  • Basic understanding of Finance and Accounting.

  • A thorough commercial and technical knowledge of the product line the incumbent is managing, including competitive intelligence.
  • An understanding of the hydraulics strategic plan and demonstrated ability to create and lead product roadmaps for the Fluid Conveyance business.

Eaton has announced it has reached an agreement to sell its Hydraulics Business to Danfoss A/S. This transaction is expected to be completed by the end of Q1 in 2021 and this position is expected to remain with the Hydraulics Business and would transfer to Danfoss A/S. upon close.  The compensation and benefits that will initially be offered for this position are based on Eaton’s plans, programs and practices.  If you are offered and accept this position and are actively employed by the Hydraulics Business when the transaction closes, Danfoss A/S will provide further details to employees concerning compensation and benefits at that time
