This position is based in Wageningen, the Netherlands.

 

Your tasks and responsibilities
In this position, your primary focus is to deliver micropropogated tissue culture plants, including and coordinating lab and greenhouse activities, data management and reporting.  

Next to this, you’re responsible for leading a team of 3 Cell Biology Specialists and interacting with Research Scientists, Agronomics and Operations Teams to design, execute and oversee the Global Accelerated Genetics Crop Research and Development efforts.
 

Additionally you will be responsible for continuous improvement and strategic initiative projects that transform the way research is conducted within the organization through the use of data analytics, project and portfolio management and program management design.


Your other responsibilities are:

- Responsible for managing the planning and execution of research or production plans to supply the demand for Micropropagation and contribute to Cytoplasmic Male Sterility (CMS), Doubled Haploids (DH) and other key deliverables for the Bayer Crop Science vegetable business.

- Acts to align between groups to ensure visible production plans, on-time delivery of production materials, and on-time startup.

- Leads workflow optimization and method validation projects using multiple data sources.

- Uses specialized knowledge, the broad application of scientific principles, current literature when identifying and implementing process improvements.

- Prepares reports with large data sets for supervisor review for delivery to internal team and to external stakeholders, under time constraints, across various project types.

- Thrives on meeting challenges, insists on high quality deliverables, demonstrates effective problem-solving skills, and possesses the ability to build productive external and internal relationships. 

- Designs and analyzes the results of experiments independently. Performs a variety of experiments.

- Communicates and interprets the results of experiments, production KPIs, cost/benefit analysis, and lab related issues to partners and key stakeholders.

- Takes initiative in keeping current with literature in areas of assignment and in areas of professional interest.

 

Who you are?

To be successful in this position you will bring along the following qualifications: 

- MSc or BSc in Biotechnology, Plant Breeding, Molecular Genetics, Microbiology or related.

- 3 or more years demonstrated people leadership experience.

- 3 or more years of experience in a comparable position and (lab) environment.

- Experienced with working with temporary workers or managing a team and project management experience.
- Excellent planning skills.

- Excellent IT skills; MS-Excel, LIMS (LabVantage is a plus).
- Proficient in the Dutch and English language.

- Experience with ISO/Quality Management Systems and defining and using Key Performance Indicators to measure lab and workflow health.

 

 You are a registered Dutch citizen or already eligible to work in the Netherlands (Visum).
