The PEAK Team is looking for a full time experienced, customer-oriented, business-focused, and analytically-driven Technical Product Manager to help with the delivery of project portfolios commitments. The Technical Product Manager will interface with teams, customer and leaders alike to ensure seamless technological support of business process by ensuring the technologies we support are not an inhibitor to the business process.

The role will be responsible for supporting global stakeholder departments and working domain leads and data citizens across different GEO’s such as Americas, EMEA, and Asia Pacific. Because the position requires interaction with geographically-disbursed teams so the candidate must be a self-starter with strong leadership qualities, project/task management skills, and analytical skills and comfortable working with distributed teams without direct management oversight day to day.

He/she must be able to contribute to programs/initiatives and collaborate with the financial stakeholders and users as well as with Global analytical teams to drive alignment and Support for PayPal. These accountabilities will be achieved through developing high trust relationships with internal and external customers, critical data analysis, attention to detail and a customer focus. Process development and optimization, as well as deliverables management will be a focus for the role.

Essential Functions (Tasks and Responsibilities):

  • Works with PayPal business units and Product Dev teams to design, develop and deliver data solutions on one of the largest data platforms in the world.

Product Ownership: Responsible for one or more highly complex product/project delivery. With minimal guidance, develops a product strategy for the specific area and leads project execution. Represents their product to customers and to peers across PayPal and is seen as a critical stakeholder for feedback on new feature ideas.

Data Area Owner: Go to person for their product's feature, design and domain details. Ability to present information about their product to stakeholders and senior management.

Requirements: Engage with internal or external customers for requirements. Ability to capture, document and present requirements without any assistance.

Problem Solving: Understand and provide inputs for the trade-offs in launching the feature. Successfully able to collaborate to resolve deadlocks and present feasible solutions. Ability to drive an agreement on a solution and its adoption.

Technical Expertise: Facilitate technical discussion for their product and provide feedback and inputs in the technical and architectural design. Ability to review the tech specs and architectural design docs.

Negotiation: Manage the expectation of internal and external customer by effectively prioritizing resources, work and negotiating product/project needs.

Innovation: Lead the team to ideate, do POC and implement change to bring innovation in their product, grooming new technologies and presenting them to management

Provide Context On the Following Categories:

Basic Qualifications:

  • At least 8 years past professional Data Engineering development or consulting experience in Essbase system design, deployment and support.

  • Can be relied on to deliver a data pipeline on time and to requirements, without data quality issues.

  • Leads the team, and contributes effectively to the success of those that they interact with regularly.

  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills. Can triage and resolve data / process issues

  • Able to evangelize best practices through prototyping or other means.

  • Expert understanding of Data Modelling Concepts, experience with modelling data and metadata to support relational & non-relational database implementations; experience with building Logical and Physical data models.

  • Familiar with various big data technologies (Teradata), open source data processing frameworks.

  • Evaluates and implements data solutions with various big-data technologies.

  • Good understanding of data processing, data structure optimization and design for scalability.

  • Good understanding of distributed systems, data movement and optimizing ETL processing of extremely large datasets for SLAs.

  • Excellent communication and team player skills to collaborate with cross functional teams for successful delivery of Data solutions.

  • Good understanding of database principles and SQL beyond just data access.

Preferred Technical Capabilities : (past experience that will help this person be successful)

  • Strong SQL skills

  • Experience in querying data from Hadoop systems and build solutions

  • Exposure to Informatica, UC4 , ETL

  • Prior knowledge of any analytical visualization tools like Tableau, R, SAAS is desirable

  • Proficiency in Excel is good to have
