YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of this role, Vice President Biomedical Data Science, are to: 

• Have global responsibility across Research and Development in leading and steering Biological Data Science with key responsibility for tissue-based Omics in Boston/Berlin;
• Initiate and deliver data-driven projects mainly in Oncology or other indications with technological fit, resulting in insight generation with direct impact on gate stage decisions;
• Do Gene Sequencing analysis & pipelines (e.g. in-house experiments, cells, tissues);
• Build and live the role as center of expertise for Oncogenetics/ genomics;
• Drive and improve methods and workflows for tissue genomics, especially within the TA Oncology, heart and lung (single cell) sequencing, as well as tissue specific aspects from reproductive health;
• Identify key software and platform needs and implement solutions to generate customized platforms in collaboration with relevant stakeholders;
• Identify biomarker candidates from preclinical studies and from clinical sources;
• Coordinate interfaces between PCR, Clinical Sciences, Clinical Development, Statistics, Pharmacometrics and IT functions;
• Initiate and drive collaborations with academic or commercial partners and regular representation of Bayer in external networks.

  Required Qualifications:
   

• Master’s degree with very strong computational focus is required, Ph.D. in Life Sciences is strongly preferred;
• 7+ years professional experience in drug Research & Development or information technology, with strong footprint in the resp. other field, ideally gained in the field of Oncological therapies;
• Highly self-motivated, highly responsible, keen interest to develop field further, strives for scientific excellence and to exceed goals regularly, result oriented;
• Shows evidence of life-long learning to develop and advance;
• Excellent networker and team player with proven networking skills, both internally and externally;
• Strategic thinker, strategy developer; Proven entrepreneurial mindset;
• Ability to structure and to steer very complex processes
• Advanced IT & programming skills, familiar with high performance computing;
• Significant publication record in the field.
