Your Career Development


As a Rolls-Royce Wood Shop and Lacquer Apprentice, you will gain a general appreciation of the wood and lacquering process through on-the-job training coupled with day release at Chichester College. You’ll learn from some of the finest craftspeople in the business and apply your skills to do a number of projects.


This program will give you an in-depth introduction to the range of wood and lacquering operations involved in the production of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.
You'll spend three years developing your skills by working your way around the departments within the Wood Shop, as well as earning a Level 3 NVQ in Modern Manufacturing and technical qualifications in Wood and Lacquering from Chichester College.

 

Your final year will be in a specific area of expertise in preparation for your post-apprenticeship role. So all in all, this opportunity gives you hands-on work experience with one of the most prestige automotive brands, plus a Level 3 qualification: the perfect combination.

To date, 100% of apprentices successfully completing the programme have been offered full time employment at the end of their studies.

 

Rate of Pay


A competitive salary starting at c.£13,650 pa which will increase annually up to c.£28,000 depending on individual progress and performance.

Working Hours


40 hour working week. Apprentice start and finish times at Goodwood are 06:00 – 14:30 but may vary slightly according to work-based placements and college hours.


• A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at higher grade C or grade 4 (or above) including Maths and English.

When it comes to selecting the right apprentices, it’s as much about attitude and behaviours as it is about vocational and academic success. That’s why in addition to the qualifications we require from you, we’ll also look for you to have a range of skills, attributes and competencies. These include: team working, as well being able to work without close supervision; quality focus; good communication skills; the ability to show enthusiasm and initiative; and to take responsibility and be accountable for your work.

As part of your application you will need to upload one of the following:

- a copy of your most recent school report* and a CV or
- a CV and an employer reference, or
- a CV and a personal statement 

We cannot progress your application without either a school report, employer reference or personal statement.

*If you are currently studying you must upload a school/college report.

You must also be able to provide proof of your legal right to work in the UK, if you are not a UK or European passport holder.
