Working with internal stakeholders and outsourced development partners, you will develop and execute solutions to resolve any existing issues, ensuring that our operating processes are cost-effective and uphold the highest quality.

As a member of the Workstation R&D Team, you will be responsible for system board DC-DC power converters for workstation products. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of

delivering power system at low cost, with good quality, on schedule. Duties include

  • Help to drive the power design for HP's personal workstation
  • Create system power budgets
  • Develop requirements and specifications for power subsystems
  • Expert in CPU VRD design with PSU knowledge is desire
  • Guide vendors and ODMs in delivering high quality power design for workstation
  • Work with EE, ME engineers on CPU VRD designs and offer support when needed
  • Work with system board ODMs to develop DC-DC voltage regulator circuit
  • Design, validate and root cause VRD related issues
  • Validate the quality of power design coming from vendors and ODMs
  • Coordinate efforts between HP's internal design team and the ODMs

Experience and Skills

  • Experiences in DC-DC converter for CPU and memory subsystems
  • Solid understanding and experiences in analog circuit design
  • Experiences with feedback control systems, include phase/gain, bode plot knowledge
  • Experiences in installing and upgrade computer system
  • Expert in debugging and root cause analysis on power and power related circuits
  • Experiences in working with CPU VRD Driver IC vendors
  • Familiar with motherboard battery charger design, validate and issue root cause
  • Familiar with non-ideal component models: Capacitors, inductors, FETs, BJT, Diode…etc
  • High level drive, self motivated and commitment to deliver new products to market on aggressive schedules
  • Fluency in English and Chinese
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and outstanding teamwork skills
  • Able to travel to US and China when needed

Education

  • Bachelor's (undergraduate), Master's (graduate) or Ph.D. (post-graduate) degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 6-8+ years industry related experiences in Power DC/DC
