YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Yield and Disease Testing Lead, are to: 

 

  • Lead and coordinate a team to provide scientific expertise to advance portfolio projects from the Genome editing and Yield and Disease team in Plant Biotech as well as the Crop Efficiency team in Biologics through field efficacy and agronomic research;
  • Develop and execute global, multi-year trial strategies and plan through development of protocols, assays and technologies to increase trial and decision probability of success;
  • Define decision criteria, logic and analytics to enable data-driven decisions;
  • Participate in scientific innovation through driving capability expansion, field testing improvement and collection of field data to improve decisions;
  • Lead team development and performance with individual plans focused on growth and improvement;
  • Partner within Portfolio leads and research and development leadership to influence and collaborate across Plant Biotech, Biologics, and Breeding to ensure cross-functional alignment of resources to enable product priorities;
  • Identify technical/resource bottlenecks within a two to three year time horizon and engage stakeholders to develop innovative solutions;
  • Communicate clear strategic plan to deliver field assessment in-line with planned phase transitions;
  • Proactively identify risks and options to mitigate.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • Ph.D. in Life Sciences or closely related field;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide scientific leadership, organizational management, and excellent collaboration skills;
  • High level of results orientation, effective verbal and written communication, and the ability to build relationships and influence a variety of stakeholders across functional teams;
  • 5+ years of experience conducting field-based research;
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change by constructively challenging the status quo and encouraging diversity of thought, and embraces change as an opportunity to drive improvement, efficiency or growth for the portfolio.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Deep knowledge of agronomy, crop development and field research;
  • 5+ years of experience with demonstrated excellence in people and resource management, with demonstrated success in building successful quality-oriented teams;
  • High engagement with leading academics and professional societies (ASPB, ASA, IPPN, or others).

 

Domestic relocation may be avialable for this role.
