Oracle Labs is looking for a Senior Technical Writer to join the GraalVM team on a full-time basis. The project requires personnel expansion due to the emergence of new customers and further innovations to the platform. You will work together with other software developers under the guidance of Oracle Labs seniors. Your responsibilities will include maintaining GraalVM public-facing documentation, published at the website and Oracle Help Center; providing documentation for new emerging Oracle Cloud services integrated with / based on GraalVM; delivering documentation for new releases; planning new content etc. The regular practice will be co-working with the Oracle User Assistance teams, cooperating with other internal Oracle product teams, participating in the documentation task forces. Other side-tasks may be participation in the developer relation activities such as publishing blogs, organising offsite events, depending on the capacity of the employee and his/her personal motivation.
The duties will include:
- Deliver quality documentation that spans user guides, release notes, reference manuals, white papers
- Provide documentation for new emerging Oracle Cloud services integrated with / based on GraalVM
- Expanding the existing documentation base
- Contribute to polishing the in-house documentation standards, practices, and procedures
- Collaborate with product managers, developers across the company and in different offices worldwide
- Design graphics and diagrams to simplify complicated concepts (optional)
Requirements
- Hands-on knowledge of Markdown/AsciiDoc markup languages
- Upper Intermediate/Advanced level in English, both spoken and written
- Familiar with Agile development methodologies
- Experience with project management software like Atlassian, including Jira issue tracking system and Confluence collaboration tool for sharing the information, or similar
- Strong drafting, copy editing and proofreading expertise
- Good attention to detail
- Analytical thinking and content architecture skills
- Working well autonomously, without close supervision
Would be a big plus:
- Familiarity with Oracle Cloud (or any cloud) products
- Practice using GIT (version control tool)
- Experience using Bitbucket
- Knowledge of frontend languages (HTML, CSS)

As a member of the technical writing division, you will design, create and deliver whole product documentation sets and/or related courseware. Edit, organize and direct the work activities of other technical writers and staff. Plan the format, arrange the layout of publications and edit work for conformance to publication standards and specifications.
Duties and tasks are varied and complex utilizing independent judgment. Fully competent in own area of expertise. May have project lead role and or supervise lower level personnel. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 4 years of software engineering or related experience.
